Job description
The Energy Device Software team is seeking three Embedded Software Engineers to develop firmware and device-level software for connected AC charging products. You will work on the software that controls how chargers communicate, measure electrical behavior, coordinate charging, diagnose field issues, and integrate with vehicles and external systems. These are physical, connected products operating across real-time embedded and embedded Linux environments. This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working close to hardware, debugging complex system behavior, and taking products from an initial technical problem through production deployment. Depending on project needs, engineers may support residential or commercial AC charging functionality. The underlying technical foundation is shared across both product areas. What You’ll Do Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for AC charging products Write production-quality software in C and C++ across bare-metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux environments Develop and improve device functionality involving charging state machines, communications, metering, diagnostics, telemetry, safety-related behavior, and software updates Debug issues that span firmware, hardware, operating systems, network communications, and external devices Work with electrical, hardware, systems, validation, compliance, product, and service teams to develop complete product solutions Translate product and system requirements into software designs, interfaces, tests, and shippable firmware Build software for connected devices that can be installed, configured, monitored, diagnosed, and updated in the field Contribute to automated testing, validation tooling, and engineering practices that improve product quality and release confidence Support third-party device and system integrations Investigate field issues, identify root causes, and implement durable corrective solutions Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and architecture decisions Help deliver reliable products for multiple markets and operating environments
Requirements
Professional or substantial hands-on experience developing embedded software Proficiency in C and/or C+Experience working with embedded Linux, an RTOS, bare-metal firmware, or a comparable embedded environment Ability to debug software that interacts directly with hardware Ability to communicate technical decisions and collaborate across engineering disciplines Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience Experience developing connected or IoT devices Experience in automotive, EV charging, consumer electronics, industrial equipment, energy systems, aerospace, robotics, or a similar product environment Experience with telemetry, device health monitoring, commissioning, field diagnostics, or over-the-air software updates Experience with communications protocols, networking, or third-party device integrations Familiarity with Go or Rust Familiarity with EV charging systems or charging protocols such as OCPP or ISO 15118 Experience working on safety-related, regulated, or compliance-driven products Experience with signal processing, metering, current measurement, or other device-level electrical functionality
