Job description

Our organization is seeking a System-of-Systems (SoS) Architect to support a mission-critical national security program. The Systems-of-Systems Architect will define and evolve the end-to-end architecture for a complex ecosystem of interconnected systems, services, and platforms. You will work closely with government stakeholders, program leadership, systems engineers, and software teams to ensure that diverse systems integrate into a cohesive and resilient mission capability. This is a professional, solutions-oriented environment that values collaboration and a positive culture., * Develop and maintain the system-of-systems architecture, including operational, logical, physical, and data views.

  • Define end-to-end system interfaces, integration patterns, and data exchanges across multiple systems and domains.
  • Lead architecture trade studies, alternatives analyses, and technology assessments to guide modernization and capability evolution.
  • Create and maintain architecture artifacts (e.g., UAF/DoDAF views, SysML/UML diagrams, interface control documents).
  • Ensure traceability from enterprise and mission objectives down through requirements, architecture, design, and implementation.
  • Partner with systems engineering and software teams to align architecture with MBSE models and implementation roadmaps.
  • Support incremental capability deployment by defining architecture roadmaps and technical insertion strategies.
  • Participate in and support technical reviews, presenting architectural options and recommendations.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering teams to ensure solutions conform to the SoS architecture and standards.
  • Communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Additional applicable experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering and/or enterprise/system architecture on complex, mission-critical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience architecting system-of-systems or large-scale distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with architecture frameworks such as DoDAF, UAF, or TOGAF.
  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) using SysML modeling tools (e.g., Cameo/MagicDraw, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect).
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes.
  • Experience defining interfaces and ICDs, and guiding integration across multiple independent systems.
  • Familiarity with networked, software-intensive systems, including APIs, messaging, and service-oriented or microservices architectures.
  • Proven ability to work onsite and collaborate closely with government representatives and multi-contractor teams.
  • Excellent communication and briefing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or similar mission systems.
  • Experience with cloud architectures (AWS, Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with digital engineering environments integrating MBSE, simulation, data analytics, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and their application in large-scale architectures (NIST, RMF, NIST 800-53).
  • Prior experience developing and maintaining enterprise or portfolio-level roadmaps.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, TOGAF, AWS/Azure Architect, SAFe Architect).
