ECOSphere is a mission-critical enterprise application ecosystem that supports conservation efforts, environmental data management, regulatory programs, and services used by both federal employees and the public.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career software developer to gain hands-on experience supporting a large-scale federal application environment while working with modern technologies including Java, Spring Boot, Angular, React, AWS, APIs, and DevSecOps tools.

The ideal candidate is passionate about software development, enjoys solving technical challenges, and is interested in contributing to meaningful projects that directly support wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship across the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement new application features and enhancements.
• Build and maintain Java-based applications using Spring Boot and modern development frameworks.
• Develop, maintain, and support RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Support front-end development efforts utilizing Angular and React technologies.
• Assist with cloud-based application deployments and modernization initiatives within AWS environments.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in development, testing, and production environments.
• Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 application support and incident resolution.
• Participate in application modernization initiatives, technology upgrades, and legacy system improvements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and support documentation.
• Develop and maintain reporting datasets and data integrations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile software development environment.
• Ensure solutions comply with federal security requirements and secure development best practices.

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Approximately 1-3 years of experience in software development, application development, or a related technical role.
• Experience developing applications with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular and/or React.
• Experience developing and supporting RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Exposure to AWS cloud services and cloud-based application environments.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite 100% of the time in Fort Collins, CO or Falls Church, VA., * Experience with Node.js or Python.
• Familiarity with Jenkins and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience using Docker and containerized environments.
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Groovy scripting.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure software development methodologies.
• Experience supporting government, public sector, or enterprise-scale applications.
• Experience with Databricks is a plus., Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

• 100% onsite role.
• Locations available in Fort Collins, Colorado or Falls Church, Virginia.
• Candidates must complete a client-specific technical crosswalk during the submission process.
• The current program is funded through at least August 2027 with continued modernization initiatives planned.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Collins, CO. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $50.00/hr.
