Systems Administrator

Robert Half is partnering with a well-established technology organization in the Milwaukee area to help them hire an experienced Systems Administrator. This role is responsible for maintaining server, virtualization, identity, database, and application-hosting technologies while helping ensure systems remain secure, reliable, and available for both internal teams and external customers.

This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys troubleshooting, automation, infrastructure improvement, and working across a broad range of technologies.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Administer and support Windows Server environments across production and non-production systems
• Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, user access, and identity-related services
• Support Microsoft SQL Server environments, including maintenance, backups, and recovery processes
• Configure and maintain virtualization platforms such as VMware, Citrix, and Remote Desktop Services
• Support web and application hosting technologies including IIS, Tomcat, and related services
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security while proactively addressing issues
• Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions using PowerShell and other tools
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, application, and network-related problems
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and system configurations
• Participate in an on-call rotation and assist with incident response when needed

• 3+ years of experience administering Windows-based server environments
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server administration
• Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments
• Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix, or Remote Desktop Services
• Experience with PowerShell or other scripting and automation tools
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and within a team

Nice to Have

• Experience supporting Linux systems or mixed Windows/Linux environments
• Exposure to public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud
• Knowledge of enterprise backup, disaster recovery, or firewall technologies
• Experience supporting ERP platforms or additional database technologies
