Job description
As a customer-facing Forward Deployed Engineer with over 10 years of experience in software engineering, I specialize in hands-on agentic coding using tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot agent mode, and OpenAI Codex, backed by a strong core stack in .NET Core, C#, SQL Server, Microsoft Azure, and React/Angular., We are looking for a senior engineer who has built enterprise systems on the Microsoft stack for over a decade and now delivers them with AI coding agents. As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will sit with our customers, understand their business problems, and ship working solutions fast. You will also show customers, live, how agentic coding changes the speed and quality of delivery on real .NET and Azure codebases. Key responsibilities
-
Work directly with customer engineering and business teams to scope, design and deliver solutions on Azure, C#/.NET and SQL Server.
-
Use AI coding agents daily to plan, write, refactor, test and document production code, and keep a human review on every change.
-
Run live demonstrations and workshops of agentic coding on customer codebases: legacy .NET Framework to .NET 8+ migration, test generation, API build-outs, SQL optimisation and bug triage.
-
Set up agentic workflows for customers: repository context files, custom instructions, MCP server connections, CI/CD integration and guardrails for safe code changes.
- Build proofs of concept and pilots in days, then harden them into production-ready deliverables.
-
Design cloud architectures on Azure (App Service, Azure Functions, AKS, Azure SQL, Service Bus, Key Vault, API Management, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions).
-
Modernise legacy applications (WebForms, WCF, .NET Framework, on-prem SQL Server) to cloud-native .NET on Azure.
-
Measure and report the impact of agentic coding: cycle time, defect rate, test coverage and developer effort saved.
-
Feed field learnings back to internal product and engineering teams and create reusable accelerators, prompts and playbooks.
- Coach customer developers on effective and secure use of AI coding agents.
Requirements
-
10+ years of hands-on development with C#, .NET / .NET Core and ASP.NET Core (Web API, MVC, Blazor or Razor Pages).
-
Strong SQL Server skills: schema design, T-SQL, stored procedures, query tuning, indexing and execution plans.
- 5+ years designing and deploying solutions on Microsoft Azure.
-
Proven hands-on experience with agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot (agent mode), OpenAI Codex, Cursor or similar, used on real projects, not only for autocomplete.
-
Able to demonstrate agentic coding live: give an agent a multi-step task, guide it, review its output and explain the trade-offs.
-
Good understanding of LLM concepts: context windows, prompt and context engineering, tool use / function calling, MCP, hallucination risks and evaluation.
-
Experience with Entity Framework Core, REST APIs, microservices, messaging and event-driven design.
-
CI/CD with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions; infrastructure as code with Bicep, ARM or Terraform.
-
Solid grasp of secure coding, identity (Microsoft Entra ID, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect) and code review practice.
-
Excellent communication; comfortable presenting to both developers and senior business stakeholders. Preferred qualifications
-
Microsoft certifications such as Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) or Azure AI Engineer Associate (AI-102).
-
Experience building AI-powered applications with Azure OpenAI / Azure AI Foundry, Semantic Kernel or the Anthropic / OpenAI APIs.
- Experience building multi-agent workflows or custom MCP servers.
- Prior consulting, solutions engineering or customer-facing delivery role.
-
Exposure to front-end frameworks (Angular, React) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes). What success looks like in the first 6 months
- Delivered at least [2] customer engagements end to end using agentic coding.
- Ran live agentic coding demos or workshops for customer teams.
- Published a reusable playbook for agentic coding on .NET and Azure projects. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
