Job description

As our Director of Finance, Digital and Transformation, you will provide strategic leadership across Finance, Governance and Risk, Digital, Data and Technology, and Business Change. Working closely with the Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and Executive Team, you will help develop and deliver our organisational strategy, ensure the charity’s long-term financial sustainability and lead transformation that strengthens our impact for children with life-shortening conditions and their families.

You will lead the development and delivery of our financial strategy, annual plans and budgets, providing clear financial insight, constructive challenge and assurance to support high-quality decision-making. You will oversee financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, reserves, annual accounts and the effective stewardship of the charity’s resources.

As executive lead for governance, risk and assurance, you will advise the Chief Executive and Board on significant risks, controls, compliance and governance matters. You will also act as Senior Information Risk Owner and oversee the development of proportionate assurance, internal audit and corporate compliance arrangements.

You will provide strategic leadership for our digital, data and technology agenda, ensuring that investment and innovation support our organisational priorities and deliver measurable benefits. This will include sponsoring major transformation programmes, strengthening data governance and business intelligence, overseeing cyber security and technology resilience, and helping the charity make responsible and effective use of emerging technologies and AI.

Leading through collaboration, you will work across the charity to support complex change involving people, processes, technology and culture. You will also lead and develop talented teams, creating an environment in which colleagues are empowered to provide excellent, responsive and forward-looking services.

Requirements

You will be a qualified accountant and an experienced, credible finance leader with a proven track record of operating at executive or equivalent senior leadership level.

You will bring:

Experience of advising a Board or governing body on finance, governance, risk, assurance and compliance.

A strong track record of leading digital transformation, technology-enabled change and complex organisational improvement.

Experience of overseeing cyber security, information governance and technology risk within a regulated environment.

Experience of translating technology and data opportunities into practical outcomes and measurable organisational benefits.

Excellent leadership and people management skills, with experience of creating collaborative, engaged and high-performing teams.

Strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to balance the competing demands of a diverse portfolio.
