Senior Backend Developer - Kotlin/Java/SaaS

A global insurance company in Boston is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to help build and scale the technology by powering its digital insurance platform. In this position, you’ll be developing backend systems, APIs, and product features, all while working closely with frontend developers and other teams.

In this role, you’ll be a part of a small team in shaping the core internal systems that are essential to the company’s software engineering environment. You’ll also take ownership of features from inception through design, coding, testing, production, and use AI tools to improve developer productivity and experimentation.

• Experience with Kotlin and Java
• Exposure to AWS or other cloud services
• Experience with CI/CD
• Experience with highly distributed systems
• Skilled with AI/LLM powered development tools
• Experience with relational databases and SQL skills
• Excellent understanding of OOP concepts

Desired Skills & Experience

• Experience working in a SaaS environment or experience in the insurance industry
• B. Sc in Computer Science or equivalent degree
• 6+ years of backend software development experience

• Designing, coding, testing, and deploying new product features
• Collaborating with product, frontend engineering teams
• Use Ai powered tools to improve development and experimentation
