Job description
We’re looking for a versatile, hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer to deliver a varied portfolio of projects across virtualisation, storage and compute.
You’ll take ownership of infrastructure changes from planning through implementation and handover, bringing the technical depth and practical experience to work independently and see projects through to completion.
Projects will include:
- VMware-to-Proxmox migration and consolidation, alongside VM provisioning and lifecycle management.
- Windows Server upgrades, migrations and lifecycle work across Server 2016, 2019 and 2022.
- SAN/NAS storage administration, migration and infrastructure refreshes.
- Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and associated identity services.
- Infrastructure recovery, backup and restore, monitoring and alerting.
- Server patching, vulnerability remediation, hardening and operational improvements.
- PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Implementation, test and rollback planning, with clear as-built documentation and operational handover.
Requirements
- Essential will be recent Proxmox VE administration and implementation experience, including VMware-to-Proxmox migrations.
- Substantial hands-on infrastructure engineering experience in medium or large enterprise environments.
- Strong Windows Server and Active Directory/GPO/DNS/DHCP skills.
- Strong VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter experience.
- Enterprise SAN/NAS storage experience.
- PowerShell scripting and infrastructure automation skills.
- A practical understanding of backup, recovery, monitoring and infrastructure security.
- Proven delivery of server and infrastructure migrations, with strong troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to become productive quickly, manage several activities concurrently and deliver with minimal supervision.
This would suit an experienced contractor who enjoys variety, takes ownership and combines sound technical judgement with a willingness to get stuck into the detail.
