Software Engineering Manager

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately eight engineers and testers
• Manage performance, provide regular feedback, and support career progression
• Review code and contribute to decisions about software design, architecture, and maintainability
• Improve code quality, testing practices, and ways of working
• Work with Product teams to plan priorities and deliver against the roadmap
• Remove obstacles and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Support recruitment and build the skills needed within the team
• Help the team make effective use of AI-assisted development tools

• TDD, We are recruiting a Software Engineering Manager for an established technology business in Nottingham. The role is hybrid, with three days a week on site, and offers a salary of up to £90,000 plus a competitive benefits package, professional development, wellbeing support, and opportunities to progress. You will lead a team of engineers and testers and work closely with Product and Scrum teams. This is a hands-off coding role, though you will need to be comfortable reviewing code, joining technical discussions, and guiding the team.

• Experience managing, coaching, and mentoring software engineers
• Technical background across technologies such as .NET, C#, React, Angular, JavaScript, TypeScript, and Azure
• Ability to read and review code despite not coding daily
• Experience managing software delivery and responding to changing priorities
• Strong understanding of code quality, test-driven development, and continuous improvement
• Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in cloud technologies and AI-assisted development
