Founding Engineer (Backend)

Following our pre-seed round, we’re hiring for our first engineers: a founding backend engineer, and a founding design engineer. Your role as our founding engineer (backend) will be to work on our backend systems, cloud architecture, AI models, and agentic workflows. The role will span beyond the traditional bounds of engineering… As an early hire you will be expected to take shared overall ownership of the product, speak to users, and ensure an incredible user experience. We’re in this together; we win as a team and lose as a team., Our backend is all written in python, with FastAPI, hosted on Supabase, AWS ECS, and Lambda functions. We use a variety of models for different use cases, but predominantly OpenAI.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Multiplatform/Cross-Platform, Fundraising, Sales, Slack, Technical/Engineering Design, Cloud Architecture, System Architecture, User Interface/Experience (UI/UX), Use Cases, You could be the right fit if you’re a product-minded engineer with founding/startup experience, and have a deep understanding of large language models (inc. training, fine-tuning, deployment), machine learning, backend architecture and cloud infrastructure. We don’t care about traditional ‘credentials’, we care about grit. You will be an outlier with a demonstrated track record of achieving greatness and overcoming exceptionally hard problems. As for values: you believe relationships are everything. You care about the people you work with. You give more than you take. You take artistic pride in everything you do. You know that ‘good enough’ is not good enough.

• $160-240k + 0.5-2% + housing

We work exceptionally hard. You should expect a minimum of 60-80 hours per week. If work isn’t your primary focus, this isn’t for you. You need to be all-in. However, we stand by our belief that relationships are everything. That means your family and friends as well. You will be there for your family and friends when they need you, and you will find time to achieve your work goals around that. We don’t care when you work exceptionally hard, only that you do. Your schedule is up to you.
