Job description

National Gas is responsible for operating and maintaining Britain’s national gas transmission network, helping to keep the lights on, businesses running and homes warm.

We manage the critical infrastructure that safely and reliably transport gas across Great Britain, supporting the energy security that millions of people depend on every day.

While delivering for Britain today, we’re also preparing for tomorrow. Through innovation, investment and the development of future energy infrastructure, we’re helping to create a cleaner and more sustainable energy system for generations to come.

As a graduate, you’ll be given meaningful responsibility from the start, supported to develop professionally, and empowered to contribute to projects that have a real impact on the nation’s energy future. Whether you’re helping to solve complex challenges, driving innovation or supporting teams to deliver essential services, you’ll play an important role in an organisation with genuine purpose., As a Data & Insights Graduate, you’ll help teams across our Scotland & North region use data to make better decisions and improve how we operate. Working as part of the Planning & Performance team, you’ll gain hands-on experience using data to solve real business challenges and support the delivery of essential energy infrastructure.

You’ll work with information from different systems and sources to spot patterns, identify opportunities for improvement and help answer key business questions. Along the way, you’ll develop reports, dashboards and insights that help colleagues understand performance and make informed decisions.

One of the best parts of the role is the variety. You’ll work with teams across engineering, project delivery, safety, finance, commercial and more, giving you a broad understanding of how different parts of the business work together and how data helps keep things running smoothly.

Throughout the programme, you’ll build practical skills in data analysis, visualisation and business intelligence tools, while contributing to projects that make a real difference. You’ll be supported to learn, develop your confidence and grow your technical skills in a collaborative environment.

You’ll have the chance to develop both your technical and people skills, working with colleagues from different teams and backgrounds, within a fast-paced operational environment. We value fresh perspectives, so you’ll be encouraged to ask questions, bring new ideas and help us find better ways of doing things., This is an 18-month fixed-term graduate programme. You must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the programme. All participants on our Graduate Scheme are subject to National Security Vetting (NSV). Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC) throughout their employment. For further information, visit GOV.UK (UK Security Vetting: Clearance Levels).

Travel is an important part of this role and a great opportunity to build your experience and develop relationships across the business. You’ll have the opportunity to visit National Gas Services locations, customer sites, industry events, networking opportunities and outreach activities across the UK. Due to the nature of the role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence by the time you join the programme, and access to a vehicle. Where appropriate, we can provide support with transport arrangements, including hire vehicles, to help ensure travel is accessible.

Throughout the programme, you’ll spend time working with colleagues across the business, giving you exposure to different teams and areas of National Gas. While you’ll mainly be based at our Aberdeen office, there may be occasional visits to operational sites and meetings within the region to support your learning and development. You will not need to have driving licence or personal vehicle to be considered for this role.

Requirements

To thrive as a Data and Insights Graduate at National Gas, you’ll have a genuine interest in working with data, solving problems and uncovering insights that help others make informed decisions.
