Job description
We are looking for a Scientific Software Developer who can bridge the gap between science and software, translating complex numerical models and scientific concepts into robust, professional-grade applications.
You will develop software supporting advanced radiation detection, imaging and sensing technologies, taking scientific concepts and prototype algorithms and turning them into reliable, maintainable and production-ready systems.
Working alongside physicists, hardware engineers and other software developers, you’ll be close to both the science and the technology - with the opportunity to see your software become part of real-world systems used in demanding applications.
We’re looking for strong software engineering skills and the ability to understand and work with complex scientific concepts.
We’re a small, ambitious technology company, which means you’ll have real responsibility, direct access to technical specialists and decision makers, and the opportunity to see the impact of your work.
Responsibilities
- Algorithm Development: Design, optimise and implement numerical models and algorithms that process data from radiation detectors and imaging devices.
- Professional Software Engineering: Develop clean, maintainable and reliable software, transforming scientific prototypes into production-ready applications.
- Software Quality: Apply modern development practices including version control, automated testing and CI/CD to support robust and reliable software.
- Cross-Functional Development: Work alongside physicists, hardware engineers and front-end developers to integrate algorithms into wider system architectures.
- Problem Solving: Investigate technical challenges and help develop practical software solutions for complex scientific and engineering problems, * Small company. More flexibility. Work closely with colleagues across the business, have direct access to decision makers and see the impact of your work.
- Science meets software. Work on projects where physics, engineering, algorithms and software come together to solve real-world problems. Work beyond standalone code and contribute to complete systems combining software, algorithms, sensors and hardware.
- A workplace with character. Work from our beautiful period building at Landguard Manor, providing a distinctive and welcoming working environment.
- A friendly team culture. We make time to connect, with weekly informal team catch-ups, summer BBQs, Christmas dinner and other company events.
