Job description
You’ll join a small, experienced technology team working across our bespoke e-commerce platform and wider business systems, including our webstore, internal operations tools, CRM, merchandising systems and third-party integrations.
This is a broad role covering new development, improving existing systems, integrations, support and data-related work. You’ll work closely with colleagues to understand business problems, refine requirements, design practical solutions and deliver changes.
We’re looking for someone with solid real-world development experience, good engineering judgement and a collaborative approach. You should be comfortable taking ownership while sharing context, discussing design decisions, reviewing code and tackling harder problems together.
Many of our systems have evolved over the years, so you’ll need to be comfortable understanding existing behaviour and business rules. We value simple, maintainable solutions and pragmatic trade-offs between quality, risk, time and business needs.
We’re evolving towards an AI-assisted, increasingly agent-led approach to software development. Rather than code by hand, you’ll spend more time understanding requirements, designing solutions and defining clear specifications for tools such as Claude Code to implement. You’ll guide and review agents’ work while retaining responsibility for architecture, code quality, testing and the final result.
This is a hybrid role with a requirement to work from our modern Tunbridge Wells office three days per week.
