Job description
Our client, a market leading MSP, is looking for an experienced 3rd Line Network Support Engineer to join its growing technical support function.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex network incidents, work across a multi-vendor environment and play a key role in improving network reliability and customer experience.
What you’ll do
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex network faults and incidents.
- Troubleshoot routing, switching and wireless issues across customer-facing infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain enterprise and carrier-grade network equipment, following change control procedures.
- Investigate recurring incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
- Work closely with field engineers, suppliers and the Network Operations Centre to resolve critical issues.
- Improve technical documentation, monitoring, alerting and support processes.
- Participate in an on-call escalation rota.
Requirements
- Significant experience in 3rd Line, advanced 2nd Line or senior network support, ideally within an ISP, carrier or service provider.
- Strong routing and switching knowledge, particularly TCP/IP and BGP.
- Hands-on experience with technologies including Juniper, Nokia, Fortinet, RAD, ADVA, Ruckus or Mist.
- Confidence making configuration changes to live, customer-facing infrastructure.
- Experience managing complex incidents and delivering effective technical resolutions.
- Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with wireless troubleshooting, network automation, scripting, APIs or fibre networks would be advantageous.
Benefits & conditions
- Salary up to £70,000, depending on experience.
- Exposure to complex, business-critical network infrastructure.
- Opportunity to influence technical standards and support improvements.
- Structured training and certification support.
- Comprehensive benefits package, including bonus, healthcare and employee share scheme.
