Job description
We’re looking for a confident, hands-on Field Services Engineer to join our team. This is a predominantly field-based role, with approximately 80-100% of your time spent working at customer sites across Essex, London and Hertfordshire.
Your work will be varied, ranging from scheduled full-day onsite support visits to hardware installations, IT projects and responding to break-fix issues. Some days you’ll be based at a single customer site, while others may involve visiting several customers.
You’ll be the face of WebbyTech when attending customer premises, so professionalism, strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential.
We’re looking for someone with a solid general IT background who is confident troubleshooting and resolving a wide range of technical issues independently, while knowing when to involve the wider technical team for additional support.
Organisation and self-motivation are particularly important in this role. You’ll be responsible for managing your assigned jobs, keeping accurate notes and documentation, and ensuring your company vehicle is stocked and ready for site visits.
When not attending customer sites, you’ll assist with equipment preparation, configuration and other technical tasks as required.
This is a practical, hands-on position, so you’ll need to be comfortable with the physical aspects of IT installations, including setting up workstations, installing equipment and working with network infrastructure.
Occasionally, work outside normal business hours may be required for scheduled installations, maintenance or IT projects. Any such work will be planned and agreed in advance.
Key Responsibilities
· Attend customer sites for scheduled support visits, installations and reactive IT support.
· Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking and general IT infrastructure issues.
· Install, configure and replace PCs, laptops, servers, network switches, wireless access points, printers and other IT equipment.
· Carry out equipment deployments, office moves, upgrades and other onsite IT projects.
· Support and troubleshoot Microsoft 365, Windows environments and associated business applications.
· Provide friendly, professional support to end users and manage customer expectations.
· Troubleshoot issues independently, escalating more complex problems to the wider technical team when appropriate.
· Maintain accurate customer documentation, including site information, equipment records and photographs.
· Use our PSA system to manage assigned jobs, record time and maintain accurate technical notes.
· Ensure the company vehicle is kept clean, stocked and ready for site visits.
· Assist with equipment preparation and configuration when not working onsite.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with at least 3 years’ experience in IT support, ideally gained within a managed services provider (MSP) or a similar customer-facing environment.
You’ll need a solid understanding of Microsoft-based IT environments, good troubleshooting skills and the confidence to work independently at customer sites.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as the role involves regular travel between customer premises using a company-provided van.
Strong customer service skills are just as important as technical knowledge. You’ll need to communicate clearly with customers of varying technical abilities, remain professional under pressure and take ownership of the work assigned to you.
We’re particularly interested in someone who is practical, organised and enjoys getting out from behind a desk to solve problems.
Tech Stack You’ll Work With
· Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 administration
· Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
· Microsoft Entra ID and Intune
· PC, laptop and server hardware installation and troubleshooting
· Network switches, wireless access points, routers and firewalls
· Microsoft Hyper-V and virtualised environments
· ESET Antivirus and endpoint security solutions
· Backup and recovery solutions
· General network troubleshooting, including TCP/IP, VLANs and Wi-Fi connectivity
· Experience with IT ticketing systems and maintaining accurate technical documentation.
You don’t need to be an expert in every technology listed, but you should have a good general understanding of IT infrastructure and be comfortable learning new systems.
Benefits & conditions
We offer a varied, hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll enjoy a supportive team environment, plenty of independence and the opportunity to build relationships with a wide range of customers.
You’ll be provided with a company van and the tools needed to carry out your work, with support from our wider technical team whenever required.
We value people who take pride in their work, enjoy helping customers and want to be part of a growing business.
And no, you won’t be working on your birthday (unless you want to!).
If you’re an IT all-rounder who enjoys solving problems, working with people and getting out from behind a desk, we’d love to hear from you.
Job Types: Permanent, Full-time
Pay: £35,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
