Microsoft Access Artificial Intelligence Network Architecture Cloud Services

Job description

You’ll lead the internal IT team: the people who look after the systems, devices, networks and applications the company’s own staff use, whether they’re in the office or working from home.

You’ll lead a small, talented team of engineers at different stages of their careers, and the right person will bring real energy to building that team, not just managing it. You’ll also own parts of ISO compliance, manage the IS budget and shape the internal technology roadmap.

What you’ll do

  • Lead and develop your team. Set clear priorities and create an environment where engineers grow, take ownership and do great work.
  • Own desktop support. Make sure staff can work well on site and remotely, and be the escalation point for major incidents.
  • Run the core systems. Device management, identity and access, and the cloud productivity and collaboration platforms the business runs on.
  • Look after the office network. LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, firewalls, monitoring and meeting room technology, plus VoIP and cloud telephony.
  • Manage the budget. Plan capital and operational spend for internal systems, working closely with Finance.
  • Keep things secure and compliant. Support ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 audit readiness, contribute to the annual finance audit, handle SARs and HR related investigations, and help with business continuity planning.
  • Manage suppliers and assets. Licensing renewals, the IT asset register and the hardware lifecycle.
  • Deliver projects. Lead IS projects from start to finish and contribute to the wider Network & Infrastructure strategy.

Requirements

  • A track record of developing people. You’ve managed an internal IT or service desk team and can point to engineers who grew under you. You know how to motivate people at different career stages, have honest conversations and build a team people want to be part of.
  • Technical credibility. A solid grounding in device management, identity and access, cloud services and network infrastructure. You won’t be hands on every day, but you’ll understand it well enough to lead the people who are and draw resource from SME areas of the business who deliver specialist and deep knowledge of the overall technology ecosystem.
  • ISO experience. You’ve contributed to ISO 27001 or ISO 9001 and you’re comfortable with audits, controls and continuous improvement.
  • Commercial sense. You’ve managed IS budgets and suppliers, and you’re confident challenging costs and getting value from contracts.
  • Clear communication. You can talk to engineers and senior leaders alike, and you’ll champion IS across the business.
  • Ai. You are confident steering conversations around artificial intelligence in an early adoption culture / environment.
  • Pace and adaptability. The business moves quickly, so you’ll be comfortable when priorities shift and you’ll keep your team focused when things change but be inquisitive to the point of challenging assumptions and the ‘norm’.
