Job description

This position requires a proactive approach to managing server hardware, fiber optic links, and complex networking environments. We are looking for a professional who is comfortable handling Layer 3 switching equipment and ensuring seamless connectivity across our integrated technical systems.

Core Duties

  • Set up and manage the lifecycle of routers, servers, switches, and related hardware components.
  • Construct and organize server cabinets and network racks to ensure optimal equipment placement.
  • Manage the installation and upkeep of multi-mode and single-mode fiber optic cabling.
  • Utilize SFP transceivers and top-of-rack switches to maintain robust network pathways.
  • Help ensure high-performance data flow by supporting spine-leaf network architectures.
  • Improve system reliability by performing precise cable management and proactive network diagnostics.
  • Ensure the continuous operation of testing infrastructure to support our interconnected system requirements.
  • Research and suggest the procurement of necessary networking hardware and spare parts.
  • Partner with engineering departments to facilitate the growth and testing needs of our network infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Six to twelve years of professional background in data center operations or network technician capacities.
  • Proven ability to physically install and configure routers, servers, and various network devices.
  • Deep knowledge of fiber optic standards, including both single-mode and multi-mode cabling.
  • Practical skills in managing SFP transceivers and switch-to-switch connectivity.
  • Strong grasp of routing principles and the operation of Layer 3 switching hardware.
  • Familiarity with the design and implementation of spine-leaf network layouts.
  • Demonstrated expertise in structured cabling and maintaining clean server rack environments.
  • Help resolve hardware and connectivity issues to minimize downtime for the entire team.
  • Ability to take ownership of technical tasks and work autonomously in a hands-on setting.

Desired Background

  • Experience working within Linux-based operating systems.
  • Prior involvement in maintaining private networks or specialized testing infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of zonal architectures or automotive networking standards.
  • Familiarity with the application of Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) technology.
  • Experience supporting industrial-scale networks or complex interconnected systems.
