Java Developer (Backend Engineer)

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer / Senior Backend Engineer to join the Middle Office Core Platform Organization and contribute to product development and modernization initiatives within the financial services industry. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, object-oriented design, and backend development, along with experience building scalable, reliable, and high-performance applications. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can design and develop software components, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. Candidates should have a strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Agile methodologies, with a focus on delivering customer-centric solutions.

• Key Skills: Java 8+, Spring Boot / Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, Microservices Architecture, Object-Oriented Programming and Design, Maven / Gradle, Git / Bitbucket, Jenkins / CI/CD, IntelliJ IDEA, SQL and Relational Databases, Agile Methodologies, Financial Services Domain, * 4 8 years of professional software development experience, with strong hands-on backend development expertise.
• Strong proficiency in Java 8 or above and object-oriented programming, analysis, and design.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with build management tools such as Maven or Gradle.
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and Bitbucket.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
• Familiarity with IntelliJ IDEA or similar Java development environments.
• Experience developing and maintaining backend applications, APIs, and software components.
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, unit testing, debugging, and code quality.
• Previous experience in the financial services industry, preferably supporting middle-office platforms or enterprise financial applications.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Boston, MA, four days per week., * Experience designing and developing microservices-based applications.
• Knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, Sybase, or PostgreSQL.
• Experience building scalable, highly available, and distributed systems.
• Understanding of software design patterns, core data structures, algorithms, and coding principles.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Exposure to containers, Kubernetes, and service mesh technologies.
• Experience with Python scripting or Go.
• Knowledge of application performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Experience with automated testing, deployment pipelines, and cloud-native development practices.
