Job description
- Install, route, label, and terminate structured cabling, network wiring, Cat5 and Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
- Perform fiber splicing and network installation; work with Ethernet, local area networks (LAN), Cisco routers, Juniper equipment, and VoIP and telephony systems.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools, telecommunications testing equipment, an ohmmeter, hand tools, and power tools.
- Read schematics and test telecommunications systems, radio frequency (RF) connections, and alternating- and direct-current (AC/DC) electrical systems.
- Support field service, equipment repair, CCTV, and communication system installation while following applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements.
Requirements
- Technical proficiency in computer networking, information technology (IT), cabling, low-voltage electrical wiring, and telecommunications is important.
- Data center or service technician experience is preferred; customer service skills and clear communication are valuable.
- Experience with fiber optic systems installation, cable termination, structured cabling, and network cabling is preferred.
- Familiarity with Avaya, Cisco routers, Juniper, VoIP, and telecommunications testing equipment is an asset.
