Senior COBOL Developer

We are seeking a Senior COBOL Developer / Technical Lead to support the maintenance, enhancement, development, and production support of mission-critical business applications in a Windows-based client-server environment., · Analyze complex business applications and assigned development/modification tickets.

· Lead the analysis and recommendation of technical solutions for assigned projects and system enhancements.

· Work directly with business units to gather and develop business specifications.

· Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and obtain stakeholder approval.

· Develop, modify, debug, test, and implement COBOL-based applications.

· Provide Level 3 production support for mission-critical systems.

· Troubleshoot application issues and determine appropriate resolutions.

· Coordinate with impacted users to ensure solutions meet documented requirements.

· Provide regular project and production status updates to management and business analysts.

· Lead technical development activities, planning, and software deployments.

· Mentor and guide junior and less-experienced technical team members.

· Communicate effectively with users, vendors, technical staff, business stakeholders, and management.

· Plan, coordinate, direct, and review technical project activities.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Visual/Micro Focus COBOL, Oracle SQL, complex business systems, L3 production support, technical leadership, and working directly with business teams to translate requirements into technical solutions., · 6+ years of experience with Visual COBOL and/or Micro Focus COBOL.

· Working knowledge of Visual COBOL V9.

· 10+ years developing and maintaining complex, mission-critical applications in a Windows-based client-server environment.

· 5+ years leading technical software development teams through planning and deployment.

· 10+ years coding and testing complex COBOL business systems using Oracle SQL in Windows client-server environments.

· 5+ years of Level 3 (L3) production support experience.

· 5+ years serving as a primary technical contact with business units for developing and reviewing business and technical specifications.

· 10+ years of experience with system analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.

· Strong ability to work independently.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Oracle 19+ SQL
• Microsoft Visual Studio .NET / C#
• Experience working in a government environment
• Visual COBOL technical certification
