Lead SLS Technical Engineer

As we continue to expand our industrial SLS business in the U.S., we are seeking a Lead SLS Technical Engineer to take technical ownership of our SLS product line in the U.S. market.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining complex equipment troubleshooting, engineering problem-solving, product improvement, and cross-functional collaboration with our global R&D teams.

Key Responsibilities1. Technical Leadership & Ownership

• Serve as the primary technical lead for Raise3D’s SLS systems in the U.S.
• Take ownership of complex technical issues from initial investigation through resolution.
• Establish troubleshooting methodologies, technical standards, and escalation procedures.
• Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to service engineers and other technical team members.
• Prioritize technical issues based on customer impact, product reliability, and business urgency.

1. SLS System Engineering & Troubleshooting * Lead root cause investigations involving mechanical, electrical, thermal, and system-level issues. * Diagnose challenges related to powder handling, airflow, filtration, thermal management, and printing performance. * Develop corrective actions and validate their effectiveness. * Improve equipment reliability, print consistency, and operational performance. * Support complex installations, commissioning, and field escalations when necessary.

2. Product Improvement & Global R&D Collaboration * Act as the technical liaison between U.S. customers, the U.S. technical team, and Raise3D’s global R&D organization. * Translate field issues into clear engineering requirements and actionable improvement plans. * Lead field validation of engineering changes, system upgrades, and corrective solutions. * Participate in new product introductions, technical readiness reviews, and product performance evaluations. * Provide engineering feedback to support long-term improvements in reliability, serviceability, and customer experience.

3. Customer & Cross-Functional Support * Serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical customer issues. * Collaborate with sales and applications teams on complex technical evaluations and customer projects. * Communicate root causes, corrective actions, and technical recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders. * Support customer training, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer.

4. Technical Process & Continuous Improvement * Develop and maintain troubleshooting guides, service procedures, and technical documentation. * Identify recurring technical issues and implement preventive improvements. * Establish measurable improvements in technical resolution time, equipment reliability, and customer satisfaction. * Support the development of a scalable SLS technical support framework for the U.S. market.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in industrial equipment engineering, additive manufacturing, product development, or advanced technical support.
• Demonstrated ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex electromechanical or system-level problems.
• Experience taking technical ownership of projects or leading engineering investigations.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, sensors, motion systems, and industrial equipment integration.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and system documentation.
• Strong communication, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical priorities.
• Willingness to travel domestically for critical customer installations, troubleshooting, and technical projects.

Preferred

• Direct experience with SLS printers or powder-based additive manufacturing systems.
• Experience with Formlabs Fuse, EOS, 3D Systems, or comparable industrial additive manufacturing equipment.
• Knowledge of powder handling, airflow and filtration systems, thermal control, and laser-based manufacturing processes.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Onshape.
• Familiarity with root cause analysis, FMEA, DFM/DFA, and engineering change processes.
• Experience collaborating with overseas engineering and manufacturing teams.
• Previous experience mentoring engineers or acting as a technical team lead.
• Experience with PA11, PA12, or other polymer additive manufacturing materials., We are looking for a technically strong, hands-on engineer who can take ownership of complex problems, lead engineering investigations, and drive solutions through implementation.

The ideal candidate combines practical engineering experience with technical leadership, structured problem-solving, and the ability to collaborate across engineering, service, and customer-facing teams.

Experience with SLS technology is highly desirable. Candidates with strong electromechanical engineering backgrounds and proven technical leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.
