Job description

The Senior Integration Engineer builds the connections and automation that allow Integra’s core business systems to work together in real time or near real time. You will work hands-on across ERP, HR, manufacturing, operational, SaaS, and other enterprise platforms to understand how information and business processes move between systems, identify integration gaps, and eliminate manual work. You will design and build APIs, REST and SOAP services, system integrations, orchestration, event-driven solutions, and automated workflows that improve efficiency and enable systems to work together reliably at scale. You will partner directly with business teams, vendors, and technical stakeholders to understand the process behind the technology, ask the right questions, and translate operational needs into practical, secure, and scalable integration solutions. This role is a strong fit for someone who combines deep technical integration experience with the ability to understand the business problem and build solutions that make the way people work simpler and more efficient.

This position is 100% onsite in the far North Dallas/ Plano area.

What you will do?

Enterprise Integration Architecture

  • Design enterprise integration architectures connecting SaaS, cloud, on-premises, partner, operational, and edge systems.

  • Define integration standards, reusable frameworks, reference architectures, and engineering best practices.

  • Design synchronous, asynchronous, event-driven, message-driven, streaming, batch, and workflow-based integration solutions.

  • Apply enterprise integration patterns including request-reply, publish-subscribe, routing, transformation, saga, circuit breaker, outbox, idempotent consumer, and queue-based load leveling.

  • Define canonical messages, event schemas, interface contracts, compatibility standards, failure behavior, recovery procedures, and operational requirements.

API, Microservices, and Azure Integration Services

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain REST APIs, SOAP services, webhooks, and enterprise service interfaces.

  • Build serverless APIs and event processors using Azure Functions and containerized microservices using Docker, Azure Container Apps, and Kubernetes platforms where appropriate.

  • Define OpenAPI specifications and contract-first API development practices, including versioning, backward compatibility, validation, routing, correlation, and consistent error handling.

  • Design solutions using Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Azure Event Hubs.

  • Create automated unit, integration, contract, regression, security, performance, and load tests.

Messaging, Event-Driven, and Streaming Integration

  • Design Azure Service Bus queues, topics, subscriptions, sessions, duplicate detection, and dead-letter processing.

  • Build message producers, consumers, routers, transformers, and orchestrated business processes.

  • Implement retries, timeouts, poison-message handling, replay, reconciliation, compensation, idempotency, and failure recovery.

  • Design real-time integrations using Apache Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, or equivalent technologies.

  • Implement partitioning, consumer groups, checkpoints, offsets, retention, replay, schema evolution, filtering, enrichment, transformation, routing, aggregation, and windowing.

IoT, API Management, and Performance

  • Design integrations involving IoT devices, sensors, industrial equipment, manufacturing systems, and edge applications using MQTT, AMQP, HTTPS, WebSockets, and OPC UA where required.

  • Publish, secure, govern, and monitor enterprise APIs through Azure API Management.

  • Configure products, subscriptions, versions, revisions, backends, named values, certificates, developer access, and reusable API policies.

  • Implement OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT validation, certificate authentication, managed identities, and Microsoft Entra ID integration.

  • Implement distributed caching using Azure Cache for Redis or equivalent technologies and optimize response time, throughput, latency, scalability, and back-end utilization.

Security, Observability, Operations, and Delivery

  • Protect integrations using Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, Azure Key Vault, OAuth, certificates, encryption, input validation, rate limits, and least-privilege access.

  • Implement structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, correlation IDs, dashboards, and alerts using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.

  • Develop replay, resubmission, reconciliation, audit, and recovery capabilities for business-critical integrations.

  • Troubleshoot complex distributed-system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions.

  • Partner with architects, business stakeholders, DevSecOps engineers, and data teams; conduct design, code, interface, and production-readiness reviews.

  • Mentor engineers and promote reusable integration patterns, software engineering standards, and operational excellence.

Requirements

System Integration (SI), Business Processes, Automation, REST (Representational State Transfer), Business Solutions, Application Programming Interface (API), Software as a Service (SaaS), ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), System Integration (SI), * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, middleware, enterprise integration, APIs, or distributed systems.

  • 5+ years of experience designing and delivering APIs and complex integration solutions.

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure integration or cloud-native application services.

  • Proven experience delivering business-critical integrations across multiple enterprise systems.

  • Strong understanding of secure software engineering, networking, distributed systems, and production operations.

  • Strong communication, documentation, troubleshooting, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to operate effectively as both a technical designer and a hands-on engineer.

Required Technical Skills

  • REST APIs, SOAP, webhooks, OpenAPI, JSON, XML, XSD, XPath, XSLT, C#/.NET, Java, Python, microservices, serverless architectures, distributed systems, and contract-first development.

  • Apache Kafka or equivalent streaming platforms; queues, topics, publish-subscribe, retries, dead letters, replay, idempotency, ordering, duplicate detection, reconciliation, canonical messages, and schema governance.

  • Docker, Azure Container Apps, Kubernetes, AKS, Azure Cache for Redis, Git, CI/CD, testing, artifact management, and release practices; Terraform or Bicep preferred.

  • MQTT, AMQP, HTTPS, WebSockets, IoT concepts, and cloud, on-premises, SaaS, partner, and hybrid connectivity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating Oracle Fusion ERP, Deltek Costpoint, SAP S/4HANA, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Oracle Integration Cloud, MuleSoft, Boomi, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Microsoft 365, Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or manufacturing and IoT systems.

  • Practical knowledge of financial and ERP processes, project controls and operations, manufacturing, inventory, procurement, work orders, production planning, telemetry, and industrial integration.
