Job description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking an experienced Salesforce Administrator / Consultant for a nonprofit organization in the Oakland, CA area. This is a temporary contract opportunity supporting a mission-driven organization during a period of active Salesforce implementations, ongoing system enhancements, and internal team coverage., * Serve as a hands-on Salesforce administrator and subject matter expert across an established nonprofit Salesforce environment.

  • Troubleshoot Salesforce configuration, data, access, security, integration, and application-related issues.
  • Administer and review profiles, roles, permission sets, security settings, access controls, and related configurations.
  • Support data integrity initiatives and help identify potential configuration or data issues before they impact users or business processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Salesforce power users across multiple departments.
  • Independently investigate issues, determine root causes, and recommend practical solutions.

Project Oversight & Vendor Validation

  • Provide technical oversight of active Salesforce projects and work performed by external consultants and vendors.
  • Review what vendors have configured or deployed and validate that completed work aligns with agreed-upon requirements.
  • Compare and validate changes as they move between development/testing and production environments.
  • Identify configuration, deployment, data migration, permissions, and security risks before changes negatively impact production.
  • Help ensure Salesforce development, configuration, and deployment practices follow appropriate governance and quality standards.
  • Serve as an experienced technical resource capable of asking the right questions and challenging solutions when necessary., * Support active Salesforce initiatives involving multiple internal stakeholders and business functions.
  • Work effectively within NPSP and/or Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud environments.
  • Provide technical support for an active volunteer-management implementation.
  • Partner directly with internal users to understand current workflows, troubleshoot issues, evaluate requirements, and help move projects forward.
  • Support an environment that includes multiple Salesforce-connected applications and data-management tools., This position requires more than someone who can process tickets or make routine Salesforce updates. The organization needs an experienced professional who can enter an active environment, understand how it is configured, independently investigate problems, and provide confidence that Salesforce changes are being implemented correctly.

You may be especially successful in this role if you:

  • Naturally investigate what changed when something does not look right.
  • Are comfortable reviewing another consultant’s or vendor’s work.
  • Know how to evaluate the potential downstream impact of a Salesforce deployment.
  • Can communicate technical risks clearly to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Understand that nonprofit organizations often require significant stakeholder collaboration and consensus-building.
  • Can balance immediate troubleshooting with longer-term system stability and governance.
  • Are comfortable saying, in effect, “I’ve got this,” and then independently driving the issue toward resolution.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, hands-on Salesforce professional who can step into an established and complex environment with minimal ramp-up. This person will provide day-to-day Salesforce administration while also serving as a technical reviewer for active projects and third-party vendor work.

Nonprofit Salesforce experience is a major priority. Candidates with direct experience supporting Salesforce NPSP (Nonprofit Success Pack) and/or Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud will be particularly well aligned., * Strong, hands-on experience administering Salesforce in a complex production environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve Salesforce issues with limited oversight.
  • Professional experience supporting Salesforce within a nonprofit organization or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong understanding of Salesforce configuration, administration, governance, and deployment practices.
  • Experience reviewing and validating changes moving from development/test environments into production.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting Salesforce security, permissions, permission sets, user access, and data integrity.
  • Experience overseeing, reviewing, or validating work completed by Salesforce consulting firms, implementation partners, or other third-party vendors.
  • Ability to distinguish between what was expected from a deployment and what was actually implemented.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential risks before they become production issues.
  • Ability to work directly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders across multiple departments.
  • Strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Self-directed working style and the ability to quickly take ownership of unfamiliar problems.

Highly Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce NPSP / Nonprofit Success Pack.
  • Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud.
  • Experience supporting Salesforce implementations for nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience working in consensus-driven nonprofit environments with multiple internal stakeholder groups.
  • Experience supporting volunteer-management, donor, constituent, program, or related nonprofit processes.
  • Experience with Salesforce data migrations and post-migration validation.

Salesforce Ecosystem Experience

Exposure to one or more of the following technologies would be valuable:

  • Salesforce NPSP
  • Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud
  • HandsOn Connect
  • Nintex
  • Cloudingo
  • Apsona
  • Pardot / Salesforce marketing solutions
  • Middleware and third-party Salesforce integrations
