IT Systems Engineer

BC Networks, Inc. is seeking a skilled IT Systems Engineer to support, maintain, and improve business IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience with server administration, network services, cloud technologies, and technical troubleshooting. This role requires a strong understanding of system reliability, security practices, and infrastructure management.

As an IT Systems Engineer, you will help configure and maintain IT systems, monitor infrastructure performance, resolve technical issues, and implement improvements that support business operations. You will collaborate with IT support teams and other technical professionals to maintain secure, reliable, and efficient technology environments.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers and related systems.
• Monitor system availability, performance, storage capacity, and resource utilization.
• Troubleshoot operating system, hardware, software, and network-related problems.
• Administer user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Support network services, including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and connectivity.
• Maintain system updates, security patches, and configuration standards.
• Support virtualization platforms, cloud services, and remote access solutions.
• Configure and monitor backup processes and assist with disaster recovery planning.
• Document infrastructure configurations, technical incidents, and maintenance procedures.
• Collaborate with IT teams to resolve escalated incidents and improve system reliability.
• Identify opportunities to enhance infrastructure performance, security, and scalability.

• Experience in systems engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure support.
• Knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
• Familiarity with virtualization, storage, and backup technologies.
• Knowledge of system monitoring, patch management, and access control.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and technical documentation abilities.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively with a technical team.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, or Microsoft Entra ID.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, or similar virtualization tools.
• Scripting experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
• Familiarity with network monitoring, endpoint security, and backup solutions.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, or Microsoft credentials.
