Job description

The Principal Product Engineer for BMS is a highly experienced and technically proficient role responsible for the successful characterization, qualification, and high-volume manufacturing release of BMS ICs for automotive applications. The ideal candidate will be a technical leader with deep knowledge of automotive quality and safety standards (AEC-Q100, APQP, ISO 26262) and a strong understanding of IC design, test, and manufacturing processes.

This role is a critical link between the design, test, applications, and quality assurance teams, ensuring that the BMS IC meets all functional, performance, and reliability requirements throughout its lifecycle., * Product Qualification and Reliability:

  • Lead and manage the qualification of new BMS products, ensuring compliance with automotive standards such as AEC-Q100 for stress qualification.
  • Develop, execute, and oversee comprehensive product reliability plans.

  • Characterization and Validation:
  • Develop and implement characterization plans to fully test and validate the performance of BMS ICs, covering all features and operating conditions.
  • Work closely with design and test engineers to create robust and efficient test programs for both characterization and high-volume manufacturing.

  • Statistical Data Analysis:
  • Apply advanced statistical analysis techniques to product data for process monitoring, yield optimization, and test limit definition.
  • Utilize statistical tools to identify and resolve performance and reliability issues.

  • Automotive Quality and Functional Safety:
  • Serve as the product expert for Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Control Plans, and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation.
  • Drive functional safety (ISO 26262) compliance by supporting safety mechanism validation, fault injection testing, and reporting as part of the overall IC safety case.

  • Problem Solving and Failure Analysis:
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the analysis of customer returns and production test failures to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Utilize techniques such as 8D methodology for formal problem-solving and reporting.

Requirements

Product Engineering, Battery Engineering, Technical Leadership, Automotive Technology, Product Engineering, ISO (International Organization for Standardization), Manufacturing/Industrial Processes, Manufacturing, Safety Standards, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), * BS or MS in in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

  • 12+ years experience in product engineering. A strong analog circuit background is a must.
  • Familiarity with ATE tester platforms (eg. Teradyne J750, Advantest 93K)
  • Knowledge of analog and mix-signal circuitry and the common building blocks, device physics, test methodology and DFT knowledge
  • Experience with common lab test equipment (DC power supply, oscilloscope, multi-meters etc). Bench characterization experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with JEDEC/AEC qualification standards and stress test conditions. Experience with qual hardware/software development would be preferred
  • Experience in yield management tools such as PDF Exensio, JMP. Apply statistical analysis to isolate the issue and make data-driven decision
  • Ability to managing supplier excursions and customer escalations through problem solving
  • Knowledge of Semiconductor Failure Analysis is preferable
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A good team player. Effective in fast paced, dynamic work environment
