Job description

We’re seeking a hands-on Production Planning & Control Leader to own the master schedule, guide a high-performing planning team, and keep supply, capacity, and demand in lockstep. If you thrive in complexity and love turning signals into a crisp, executable plan, this is your stage.

Your First 90 Days: What Success Looks Like

  • Stabilize the Master Production Schedule (MPS) and align it with demand, inventory policy, and capacity constraints.
  • Introduce standard work for planners and simplify ERP/MRP transactions to improve data accuracy.
  • Stand up a weekly risk review to identify shortages, bottlenecks, and schedule threats early.
  • Reduce expedites and past-due orders through disciplined sequencing and cross-functional escalation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Master Scheduling: Construct a forward-looking MPS from forecasts and orders; convert into shop schedules that protect due dates and cost.
  • Constraint Management: Balance labor, machines, tooling, and materials to safeguard throughput and minimize changeovers and overtime.
  • Exception Control: Monitor execution daily; deploy recovery plans for misses, shortages, and unplanned downtime.
  • Team Enablement: Lead and coach planners and production control associates; set priorities, allocate work, and develop talent.
  • Materials Readiness: Partner with Purchasing/Materials to ensure timely inbound flow; adjust safety stocks, lead times, and replenishment rules.
  • Capacity Roadmapping: Run short-, mid-, and long-range capacity models; support decisions on overtime, shifts, outsourcing, equipment, and staffing.
  • Cross-Functional Rhythm: Align with Sales/Customer Service on priorities; collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain to remove blockers.
  • S&OP/IBP: Participate in monthly/weekly forums; communicate plan changes, risks, and expected service levels.
  • Systems Discipline: Maintain accurate work orders, priorities, and statuses in ERP/MRP; build dashboards to visualize plan health.

Results You’ll Drive

  • Higher On-Time Delivery (OTD) with stronger Schedule Adherence
  • Improved Production Schedule Attainment and reduced backlog/past due
  • Better Inventory Turns and Inventory Accuracy
  • Increased Material Availability with fewer expedites
  • Higher Capacity Utilization and shorter Production Lead Time
  • Uplift in Planner/Production Control team capability

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
  • 5+ years in manufacturing planning, master scheduling, production control, or supply chain.
  • Leadership experience guiding planners/schedulers or production control teams.
  • Fluency in ERP/MRP and practical MPS ownership.
  • Depth in capacity planning, inventory management, MRP logic, and shop-floor scheduling.
  • Analytical rigor, organization, and problem-solving strength.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-moving factory environment.
  • Clear, persuasive communication.

Preferred Extras

  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM or CSCP).
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other CI experience.
  • Experience with S&OP/IBP processes.
  • Advanced Excel and experience with planning/reporting dashboards.
  • Experience with Infor (Syteline).
  • Automotive and/or aerospace manufacturing background.

Leadership Profile

  • Strategic and analytical thinker with strong prioritization
  • Decisive, accountable, and focused on outcomes
  • Coach and developer of teams
  • Cross-functional collaborator and effective escalator
  • Root-cause problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Calm and effective under shifting priorities

Benefits & conditions

  • Office-centric planning work with frequent engagement on the production floor.
  • Close interaction with manufacturing and partner functions.
  • Occasional overtime or flexible hours to support critical customer needs.

Impact

Own the plan that powers the plant. Deliver a credible, responsive schedule; enable teams to execute; and ensure customers receive what they need, when they need it, while optimizing inventory and capacity.

Benefits may include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan with company contributions
  • Paid time off (PTO) and company holidays
  • Life insurance and disability coverage
