Cloud Database Reliability Engineer

• Design and implement automated AWS RDS infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Build and maintain solutions for database provisioning, patching, backup, recovery, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and self-service tooling that enable teams to safely manage database operations.
• Collaborate with DevOps, SysOps, and Security teams to implement database security and access controls.
• Support database modernization and migration initiatives through automation and platform improvements.
• Optimize cloud database environments for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot database infrastructure issues and participate in incident response activities.
• Mentor team members on cloud database technologies, automation, and AWS best practices.
• Continuously evaluate and adopt new cloud services and technologies to improve platform capabilities.

• 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and AWS RDS services.
• Strong experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or similar tools.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript automation skills.
• Experience administering and supporting Oracle and/or PostgreSQL databases.
• Knowledge of AWS IAM, VPC networking, and cloud security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, automation, and systems engineering skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

Preferred Skills

• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, Database Specialty, or DevOps Engineer.
• Experience with AWS Lambda and serverless automation.
• Knowledge of database migration tools and modernization strategies.
• Experience with GitOps and declarative infrastructure management.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, and OpenSearch.
• Background in database administration transitioning into cloud or platform engineering roles.
• Experience with FinOps and cloud cost optimization initiatives.
• Experience working in regulated, financial, accounting, or government environments.
