About the Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Test Software Support Engineer to support software applications, containerized tools, and network communications used in integrated hardware-in-the-loop testing environments.
This role is focused on keeping test operations running during active lab campaigns. The ideal candidate is comfortable troubleshooting software, networking, container, and configuration issues in real time and can quickly determine where a problem is originating.
This is not primarily an application development role. We are looking for someone with practical experience supporting software in a test lab or other integrated systems environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support test software and applications used during Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) laboratory operations
- Troubleshoot software and connectivity issues during live test execution
- Configure and diagnose network communications between test systems, applications, and equipment
- Use Wireshark and related diagnostic tools to investigate communication and connectivity problems
- Support Docker-based applications and troubleshoot container configuration or execution issues
- Help determine whether failures originate in:
- Application software
- Containers
- Network communications
- Configuration
- Hardware interfaces
- Support command-and-control and test execution tools used during integrated testing
- Execute test scripts and collect logs, traces, and other diagnostic evidence
- Coordinate with software, test, and hardware specialists to restore test capability
- Document issues, troubleshooting steps, corrective actions, and shift handoffs
- Maintain clear issue records to support continuity across test campaigns
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Hands-on experience supporting test software in a laboratory, HIL, SIL, or comparable integrated test environment
- Practical experience troubleshooting network communications and connectivity issues
- Experience using Wireshark or comparable network diagnostic tools
- Working knowledge of Docker and containerized applications
- Ability to diagnose application, network, container, or configuration problems during test execution
- Experience collecting logs or diagnostic information to support troubleshooting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently during active test campaigns
- Ability to work onsite during the required weekend shift
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OpenC3 or another command-and-control platform
- Experience supporting HIL or SIL test environments
- Experience with automated test scripts and test execution tools
- Experience supporting software that communicates with physical test equipment
- Experience gathering application logs and network captures to isolate faults
- Aerospace, automotive, robotics, defense, or other complex systems test experience
- Experience working closely with test operators and hardware engineers during live integration activities
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who can quickly investigate a failure, determine whether the issue is coming from the network, a container, an application, a configuration problem, or a hardware interface, and either resolve the problem or provide clear technical evidence for the appropriate specialist.
Candidates whose experience is primarily flight software development, backend/application development, or coding without hands-on test-lab troubleshooting may be less aligned with this role., * Do you have hands-on experience supporting software in a test lab, HIL, SIL, or integrated test environment?
- Have you used Wireshark to troubleshoot network communication problems?
- Do you have working experience with Docker or containerized applications?
- Have you supported live test campaigns where you had to troubleshoot software or network issues while testing was in progress?
- Are you able to work onsite Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM?
- Do you meet the applicable U.S. Person / ITAR eligibility requirements?
