SC Cleared Scala Developer

SC Cleared / Clearable Scala Developer - 3 months+ - £400-460 pd Outside IR35 - REMOTE UK We are looking for an experienced Scala Developer to join and support a long-term technology programme within the UK Government. Key Skills & Experience Strong commercial experience developing applications using Scala.

Strong understanding of functional programming principles and modern software engineering practices.

Proven experience building high-quality, scalable backend services and distributed systems.

Experience with Akka, Play Framework, or similar Scala ecosystems.

Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed architectures.

Experience working with both relational and NoSQL databases.

Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Git, DevOps practices, and modern engineering methodologies.

Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally AWS, with exposure to Azure or Google Cloud also beneficial.

Ability to develop robust, maintainable, and scalable solutions in a commercial environment.

Willingness and flexibility to provide occasional out-of-hours support when required.

This temporary contract is outside IR35 and will be delivered on a statement-of-work basis. The supplier will determine the method, resources, and approach to deliver the agreed outcomes This temporary contract requires the successful candidate to undergo and be eligible for UK Security Vetting at SC/DV level. Clearance sponsorship will be provided where required. Due to the nature of the work, candidates should meet the relevant residency requirements.
