Job description

We are seeking a Data Movement Engineer to support the modernization of core data platforms for a mission-driven financial services organization. This role will focus on production support, optimization, and enhancement of Snowflake-based data environments and ETL pipelines. The ideal candidate is highly technical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in complex enterprise data ecosystems while contributing to meaningful, purpose-driven work. This position is hybrid and requires local presence in the New Haven, CT area., * Support and optimize Snowflake-based data pipelines, models, and ETL/ELT processes.

  • Manage end-to-end data movement operations including monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Resolve data issues related to integrity, latency, failures, and system performance.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, warehouse configurations, and data models for scalability.
  • Support CDC (Change Data Capture), SCD Type 2, Data Vault, and dimensional modeling frameworks.
  • Provide production support across Snowflake, IBM DB2, and orchestration tools (Airflow, ESP).
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring data issues.
  • Ensure data quality through validation, reconciliation, and consistency checks.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
  • Support data governance, including metadata management, lineage, and documentation.
  • Maintain runbooks, documentation, and incident resolution procedures.
  • Participate in on-call support and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to junior team members.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data warehousing, business intelligence, or data engineering.
  • 3+ years of advanced SQL development across platforms such as Snowflake, Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (development, optimization, security, and architecture).
  • Experience with cloud data platforms and modern ETL/ELT processes.
  • Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Python, Shell).
  • Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow, ESP) and version control (Git).
  • Experience with CI/CD and incident management tools (ServiceNow, Jira).
  • Strong understanding of Data Vault, dimensional modeling, CDC, and SCD Type 2.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, production-support environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
