Job description
We are looking for a Game Developer who loves building games and is just as comfortable working beyond the game client. You will build gameplay features in a modern game engine and also help with the backend services, databases, and tools that keep our games running.
What you will do
- Design, build, and polish gameplay systems, mechanics, and UI in our game engine
- Optimize performance, memory usage, and load times across target platforms
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs (accounts, matchmaking, leaderboards, live events)
- Design database schemas, write queries, and keep player data reliable and secure
- Create internal tools and pipelines that speed up the team’s work
- Debug issues end to end, from the game client to the server and database
- Work closely with designers, artists, and other engineers, and take part in code reviews
Requirements
- Proven experience in game development, with at least one shipped game or substantial project
- Hands-on experience with one or more game engines (we currently use Unity, but experience with Unreal Engine, Godot, or others also counts)
- Strong programming skills in at least one relevant language (e.g., C#, C++, GDScript)
- A solid understanding of how computers work under the hood: memory management, CPU architecture, caches, and concurrency. Experience with lower-level languages (e.g., C or C++) is a good sign of this.
- Experience building backend services with technologies such as Node.js, Python, Go, C#, or Java
- Working knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
- Willingness to take on tasks beyond pure gameplay work: backend, data, tooling, or whatever the project needs
- Comfort with Git and collaborative development workflows
Nice to have
- Experience with Rust or other systems programming or scripting languages (e.g., C, Zig, Lua)
- Experience with live-service games, analytics, or backend-as-a-service tools (e.g., PlayFab, Firebase)
- A portfolio, GitHub profile, or playable demos we can look at
