Job description

In this position, you will create solid models and manufacturing drawings, support machining operations, and collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and shop personnel. This is not a desk-only CAD position - successful candidates must be comfortable working directly with equipment, inspecting components, and supporting manufacturing operations on the shop floor., * Reverse engineer existing components and create accurate models and manufacturing drawings

  • Develop and maintain organized SolidWorks models, drawings, and documentation
  • Create detailed drawings with proper tolerancing and GD&T for successful manufacturing outcomes
  • Support CNC machining operations by collaborating directly with machinists and production teams
  • Inspect, measure, and verify components using handheld measuring equipment
  • Partner with Engineering and Quality teams during prototype development and first article processes
  • Assist with fixture design and manufacturing improvements when applicable
  • Maintain proper file organization and document control within company systems

Requirements

Do you have experience in Technical drawing?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, American Midwest Manufacturing is seeking a motivated and technically skilled team player to join our growing organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining CAD design, reverse engineering, and hands-on shop involvement to bring complex components from concept to production., * Minimum 3 years of CAD experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks modeling and drawing creation
  • Solid understanding of blueprint reading and GD&T principles
  • Experience using handheld inspection equipment and measurement tools
  • Knowledge of CMM inspection processes; experience with Mitutoyo CMM or FaroArm systems preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Fixture design experience preferred
  • Engineering degree preferred but not required with relevant experience
  • Ability to work both on and off the shop floor in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain standing for extended periods
  • Strong English communication skills for safety and operational effectiveness, Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship as we are not able to provide visa sponsorship for this role.
