Systems Engineer (Linux)

Robert Half is seeking a Systems Engineer II for a client in the financial services industry. This role is ideal for an experienced Linux professional with strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux and working knowledge of Ubuntu and related distributions. The Systems Engineer II will design, implement, secure, and maintain enterprise Linux platforms across on-premises, virtual, and cloud environments supporting critical business services., * Administer, patch, upgrade, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux servers, primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux

• Implement system hardening, security controls, and vulnerability remediation
• Monitor performance, availability, and operational health across production environments
• Support compliance initiatives aligned with SCAP, STIG, CIS benchmarks, and NIST controls
• Automate provisioning, patching, and administration using tools such as Bash, Python, and Ansible
• Provide advanced troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and support for backup, recovery, and disaster recovery efforts
• Collaborate with infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud, database, and application teams

• 5-8 years of enterprise Linux systems administration experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux
• Experience with patching, troubleshooting, scripting, security hardening, and virtualized infrastructure
• Preferred bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Experience in a regulated industry such as financial services, healthcare, or government strongly preferred, All applicants applying for U.S. job openings must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
