Mainframe Developer

Our client is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, test, and support enhancements to enterprise mainframe applications. This hands-on role focuses on COBOL, Natural, JCL, ADABAS, and DB2 and requires a strong developer who can translate business requirements into technical solutions, support production systems, and contribute within an Agile environment., * Design and develop enhancements to existing mainframe applications.

• Create and maintain programs using COBOL and Natural.
• Develop and troubleshoot JCL for batch processing and job streams.
• Work with ADABAS and DB2 databases to support application functionality.
• Create technical documentation, program specifications, and process flows.
• Perform unit, system, and acceptance testing.
• Participate in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
• Support production systems and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement solutions.

This is a fully remote contract opportunity for a mid-to-senior-level professional with proven enterprise mainframe development experience., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• 5+ years of enterprise mainframe development experience.
• Strong experience with:
• COBOL
• Natural
• JCL
• ADABAS
• DB2
• Familiarity with Oracle concepts and SQL tools.
• Experience creating technical documentation and design specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting Natural/ADABAS environments.
• Experience with Endevor, ChangeMan, ISPW, or similar change management tools.
• Experience with Control-M, CA 7, TWS, or other scheduling platforms.
• Integration experience using MQ, service layers, or file-based interfaces.
• Previous production support and on-call experience.
• Public sector, government, or regulated industry experience.
