Founding Software Engineer, Backend

Join a small, early-stage team building AI-powered video technology. As the founding backend engineer, you will lead the design of core systems and help establish engineering practices that support reliable, scalable product development., * Design and build scalable backend systems that power AI video creation.

• Develop infrastructure for agentic workflows, video generation pipelines, reinforcement learning loops, and real-time data processing.
• Own distributed systems architecture and improve reliability through automated testing, performance benchmarking, and end-to-end observability.
• Partner with research, engineering, and design teammates to develop product features and APIs.
• Set technical direction and engineering standards through strong code, clear documentation, and effective communication.

• Five to ten years of backend software engineering experience, including work at an early-stage or high-growth startup.
• Experience building scalable backend and distributed systems, large-scale data processing, information retrieval, and asynchronous workflows.
• At least 12 months of industry experience designing and building agentic systems, large language model applications, or generative AI systems.
• Industry experience with TypeScript and AWS; familiarity with S3, Lambda, RDS, SQS, ECS, FastAPI, Docker, and CI/CD is relevant.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design, a formal degree, fluency in English, and experience leading technical direction and setting code standards.

Annual salary range: $225,000 to $275,000. Visa sponsorship is not available.
