Founding Backend Software Engineer

Join a small, high-caliber team building AI-powered video technology. As a founding backend engineer, you will lead the design of core systems and set a high bar for technical quality as the product and engineering team grow., * Design and develop scalable backend systems that power AI video creation.

• Build infrastructure for agentic workflows, video generation pipelines, reinforcement learning loops, and real-time data processing.
• Own distributed systems architecture and improve reliability through automated testing, performance benchmarking, and end-to-end observability.
• Partner with researchers, engineers, and designers to develop product features and APIs.
• Write production-quality code, set technical direction and engineering guidelines, and raise team standards.
• Document technical decisions and define agent skills for a fast-moving engineering team.

• Five to ten years of backend software engineering experience, including work at a startup or high-growth company.
• Industry experience building scalable backend systems, distributed systems, large-scale data processing, information retrieval, and asynchronous workflows.
• At least 12 months of hands-on industry experience designing agentic systems or working with LLMs and generative AI.
• Professional experience with TypeScript and AWS; experience with S3, Lambda, RDS, SQS, ECS, FastAPI, Docker, and CI/CD is relevant.
• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and system design, applied in professional backend engineering work.
• Experience acting as a technical lead, setting direction and code standards while contributing code.
• A formal degree and fluency in English.

Base salary: $225,000 to $275,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
