Job description

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Operational Excellence team, where you’ll own the technical strategy and roadmap for Pura’s end-to-end supply chain platform, spanning order management, inventory allocation, warehouse integration, and shipment tracking. This is a domain leadership role: you set the technical direction, define the architecture, and are ultimately accountable for the health and evolution of the systems within your domain.

You’ll operate at the intersection of deep technical ownership and cross-functional influence, partnering closely with business stakeholders and executive leadership to translate business needs into sound technical decisions and technical tradeoffs into clear recommendations that non-engineers can act on. You’ll work closely with a small, high-impact engineering team, raising the technical bar through design leadership, hands-on code, and mentorship.

This role is for someone who sees the technical and the business not as two separate worlds, but as the same problem viewed from different angles.

Requirements

Software Engineering, Smart Homes, Furniture, Sales, Software Engineering, Technical Strategy, Warehousing, Order Management, Supply Chain, Leadership, * 10+ years in backend engineering with a demonstrated track record of technical leadership across teams or domains

  • Expert-level proficiency in Golang and/or other modern backend languages (Node, Python, etc.)
  • Deep expertise designing and operating high-scale distributed systems; proven ability to solve complex, ambiguous problems
  • Strong command of service-oriented architecture, API strategy, and event-driven architectures at scale
  • Expert-level AWS (or comparable cloud) knowledge, including containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code
  • Deep expertise in relational database design and optimization (PostgreSQL preferred), caching (Redis, etc.), and data modeling for scale
  • Proven track record establishing observability, monitoring, and operational excellence standards across engineering teams
  • Exceptional communication skills; able to translate complex technical tradeoffs into clear recommendations for business and executive audiences
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and operating as a technical force multiplier

Nice to have:

  • Experience architecting distributed order management systems (OMS) at scale
  • Deep knowledge of supply chain or logistics systems and integrations (warehouse management, 3PLs, ERPs, inventory allocation)
  • Experience with temporal data modeling and event sourcing patterns
  • Background in e-commerce or consumer products
  • Experience driving cross-functional platform migrations or re-architecture programs, Race/EthnicityDecline to answerHispanic or LatinoWhite, not Hispanic or LatinoBlack or African-American, not Hispanic or LatinoAsian, not Hispanic or LatinoNative Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, not Hispanic or LatinoAmerican Indian or Alaskan Native, not Hispanic or LatinoTwo or More Races, not Hispanic or LatinoMENA (Middle Eastern and North African)
