Job description

The Judicial Department works to provide equal access to justice, contribute to public safety, and strengthen the rule of law across Colorado. Together our courts and probation departments are committed to impartial and timely dispute resolution; support for families, litigants, and victims; client rehabilitation; and meaningful community engagement., The Software Engineer II is responsible for working on various projects such as case management systems, electronic filing systems, jury systems, and data exchanges with criminal justice agencies as well as various other state and local governmental agencies. Work is conducted in agile teams that design, prototype, build, enhance and support software offerings and tools., Design, build, enhance, deploy and support system software infrastructure.

Write server-side and front-end code for applications, create robust enterprise production applications, and develop prototypes quickly.

Follow Test Driven Development (TDD) methodology for developing applications.

Perform key portions of the system development lifecycle including designing, coding, testing, documenting, installing, maintaining, and supporting software applications.

Work closely with more senior engineers on more complex and/or integrated development issues.

Serve as a mentor for junior development positions.

Function as an agile team member in the application development unit.

Work collaboratively across the ITS Division to devise innovative solutions for judicial business requirements.

Attends meetings as required.

Performs other duties as required., The position is responsible for one’s own work product and work within a unit performing similar functions. Additionally, the position may provide lead functions such as advising, coaching, and mentoring work instructions to junior software engineers and/or interns.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Test-driven development?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and two years of relevant work experience. Additional programming experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis., The employee frequently is required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10, pounds and occasionally lift/move 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
