Job description

Seeking a collaborative Mid-Level UI/UX Designer & Graphic Artist to support a mission-critical Federal Law Enforcement client. This role sits at the intersection of enterprise GIS and user-centric design, transforming complex spatial workflows into intuitive digital experiences while leading visual branding creation.

  • Location: Remote (Highly prefer candidates in the NOVA /DC metro area for occasional briefings).
  • Culture: Fast-paced, dynamic, and highly iterative. Requires an agile mindset that embraces constructive feedback to refine designs., UI/UX & Workflow Optimization
  • UX Analysis: Map law enforcement workflows to eliminate friction and streamline application interfaces.
  • Interface Design: Build wireframes, user journeys, mockups, and prototypes for custom GIS tools and dashboards.
  • Dev Collaboration: Partner with GIS and front-end developers to ensure technical feasibility and seamless implementation.

Graphic Art & Branding

  • Asset Creation: Design custom iconography, vector graphics, logos, and mission patches.
  • Layout Design: Format polished presentations, executive briefs, and technical user guides.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Usability testing?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Education: Bachelor’s degree in Design, GIS, or Fine Arts required; Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience: X-X years of professional UI/UX and graphic design experience (Federal/enterprise software preferred).
  • Clearance: Ability to obtain/maintain a Federal Law Enforcement Background Investigation.
  • Adobe CC Mastery: Proficient in Illustrator & Photoshop (asset/icon design), InDesign (layouts/briefs), and Dreamweaver (web layouts/CSS).
  • GIS Familiarity: Foundational understanding of Esri software applications (ArcGIS Pro, Experience Builder, Dashboards, or custom Web App themes).
  • UX Competencies: Solid grasp of information architecture, responsive design, wireframing, and usability testing.

Environment & Schedule

  • Schedule: Core business hours, but requires flexibility for occasional after-hours or extended shifts to support critical mission timelines or system deployments.

Preferred Attributes

  • The “Translator”: Bridges communication between non-technical operators and technical GIS developers.
  • Data Visualization: Experience simplifying dense, time-sensitive spatial and tabular data.
  • Section 508: Knowledge of federal accessibility standards.
