Job description

  • Assess data synergies and with some supervision develop models or algorithms for identifying important information in our data in conjunction with various external datasets.

  • Link data and information together in new innovative ways to assist in constructing client-focused products leading to actionable intelligence for business and government decision

makers.

  • Assist in the creation of both proof-of-concept demonstrations to illustrate specific technologies and algorithms as well as robust operational systems that can be put into production.

  • Leverage unstructured data and real-time data streams to dynamically adjust predictive outcomes.

  • Work on data challenges faced at Verisk’s operations including large-scale real-time data analysis, aggregation, and anomaly detection (data sets of interest include large imagery and physical science data often analyzed in conjunction with business data).

  • Analyze the resulting algorithms bounded by specific business applications or decision processes, with emphasis placed on elegant solutions, defined by their predictive skill and

Requirements

Requires a Master’s degree in Data Science, Industrial and Systems Engineering, or a related field. The position also requires knowledge of the following concepts, which may be gained through work experience involving these concepts, or through academic coursework at the Master’s or higher level that involves these concepts.

  • Programming and object-oriented design.

  • Solving problems through programming and simulation.

  • Building and applying machine learning/predictive modelling in real-world use cases.

  • Large scale mathematical programming and/or optimization problems.

  • Statistical, mathematical, predictive modelling, or machine learning skills.

  • Big data systems and methodologies.
