Job description

Our Cloud team is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Cloud & PaaS engineering efforts at Jahia.

Jahia is a digital experience platform (DXP) serving customers such as Ben &Jerry’s, the European Parliament, Macom, and France Travail,, powering public platforms with millions of visitors and intranets used daily by thousands of employees. Beyond customer-hosted deployments, we build and operate Jahia Cloud, our PaaS, across multiple regions on AWS and OVH.

Our stack

Jahia Cloud today is built on top of Virtuozzo/Jelastic as its orchestrator, with a Java-based Control Plane. We rely heavily on Terraform, Datadog, Vault, Elastic, and Docker, and Kubernetes is already used on parts of the stack.

We are starting a major refactor of our PaaS stack: moving the orchestrator to self-managed Kubernetes on AWS and OVH, and rebuilding parts of our Control Plane (APIs, UIs) on top of it. The refactor will span several months; once delivered, we will keep maintaining the current version of Jahia Cloud in parallel for some time to ensure a smooth transition for our customers. New tools will most likely be adopted along the way, part of the role is helping the squads make those choices pragmatically.

About the roles

You will manage two squads that together own Jahia Cloud:

  • our Cloud squad (4 SysOps engineers) will be your primary and long-term focus: day-to-day operation of Jahia Cloud, incident response, infrastructure work, and platform engineering for the next generation of our PaaS.

  • our PaaS dev squad (3 engineers, 1 QA) currently focused on rebuilding the Control Plane for the new PaaS. Our dev squads shift focus over time: once the refactor is delivered and dev effort slows down, this squad’s management may be reassigned to another Engineering Manager depending on priorities.

You will report directly to the Director of Engineering and work closely with our CTO, Software Architects, Product Manager, other Engineering Managers, and the broader engineering organization. We are not looking for a CTO or an Architect for this role: those functions exist and you will partner with them, your job is to lead people and delivery, with strong technical judgment to back it up., * Lead the Cloud squad in delivering and maintaining reliable managed services with consistent quality.

  • Drive the refactor of Jahia Cloud, from infrastructure to Control Plane, while keeping the current PaaS healthy in parallel.

  • Partner with the CTO, Architects, Product, and other Engineering Managers on roadmap, technical direction, and best practices.

  • Be the Owner of Cloud for ISO 27001 compliance.

  • Implement disciplined, pragmatic, lightweight engineering and operations processes.

  • Champion a culture of operational excellence: testing, automation, observability, continuous improvement., * Lead a key initiative for Jahia: the next generation of our PaaS, on Kubernetes, across multiple cloud providers.
  • Work in a creative, fast-paced, international company where innovation matters and nothing is set in stone.
  • Use a broad variety of cutting-edge tools, technologies and methodologies, including embracing AI-assisted and agentic AI development.
  • Follow lightweight processes, defined collaboratively by the team.

You can also reach out to us directly on the CNCF Slack, ping us there if this role speaks to you.

Benefits

  • 12 additional days of vacation per year
  • 2 paid Volunteering days/year for a cause you support
  • Health insurance covered 80% by Jahia
  • €10 tickets restaurants (€6 from Jahia / €4 from the employee)
  • €30 monthly remote work allowance
  • Mental health platform Moka.care
  • €250 hardware budget stipend every two years

Requirements

Do you have experience in Terraform?, You are expected to be hands-on from time to time: enough to deeply understand what each squad is working on, challenge designs, and contribute to technical discussions. Occasional technical contributions (POCs, architecture spikes, code or infra work) are welcome, but leading people and delivery is the core of the role.

You will also share on-call responsibilities with the Cloud squad once onboarded. This is non-negotiable and one of the reasons strong technical skills are essential.

English language

We work in an international environment and English is our day-to-day working language (written and spoken). Not everyone speaks French in our teams, so being able to communicate clearly and comfortably in English is essential., * Strong technical background, with significant production experience operating cloud infrastructure at scale (typically 8+ years overall, with at least 2 years in a leadership / engineering management role).

  • Expertise in Kubernetes is a must, including running it in production at scale.
  • Strong familiarity with the CNCF ecosystem and its projects: you know the landscape and can help the squads pick the right tools.
  • Strong expertise in cloud providers (AWS and/or OVH).
  • Experience driving refactor / re-platforming initiatives, balancing delivery of the new with maintenance of the old.
  • Solid understanding of software development practices, enough to follow technical discussions and review designs with the dev team.
  • Comfortable with Terraform, Docker, observability (Datadog or similar), secrets management (Vault or similar), CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Good understanding of how Product, Engineering, QA, and DevOps work together in a product company, ideally with Agile methods.
  • Comfortable working with technical teams across remote and international locations.
  • Strong English and French, written and spoken.
  • AI-assisted and agentic AI development is part of our day-to-day; you should be curious and comfortable in that environment.
