Job description

We are a small aerospace engineering company in Long Beach/Signal Hill area and have been in business for over 50 years. The problems we solve address important challenges in vehicle navigation and aircraft safety as well as fundamental space weather research. We take pride in the difficulty of the problems assigned to us by our customers, as they are often challenging to frame, let alone solve. In the past, we have designed and prototyped automated algorithmic analysis and integrity monitoring for the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS), constructed the integrity architecture for a Ground Based Augmentation System (GBAS) and written papers on ionospheric threats and the modelling thereof. We are currently supporting the Australian / New Zealand SBAS (SouthPAN) with both prototyping algorithms and designing and performing integrity analyses.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Developing analysis tools in ANSI C as well as MATLAB.
  • Performing computer simulations with in-house satellite navigation software.
  • Developing and testing algorithms that enhance performance and integrity solutions.
  • Presenting various findings to academic/industry colleagues and government sponsors.

Requirements

Do you have experience in MATLAB?, We are looking for a senior ANSI C and/or MATLAB programmer with extensive experience with large code bases (100K lines of code) so either ANSI C and/or MATLAB languages would be required for this position well as a good working knowledge of Linux. The candidate must be a US citizen. We have found that people with an educational background in physics, chemistry, mathematics or engineering enjoy and thrive on our work. Our problems are uniquely challenging and require a diverse skillset. We are looking for all levels of education: Ph.D.’s, Master’s, as well as bachelor’s degree. Note that the C language would not entail C++, C# or any object-oriented C., * Must be a U.S. citizen.

  • Experience in ANSI C and MATLAB with several years’ experience in one, hopefully both.
  • Bachelors (with 10 years’ experience) or Master’s (with 5 years’ experience) in a quantitative discipline such as math, physics, chemistry, engineering, or computer science.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Experience with Python and other languages
  • Experience analyzing Satellite navigation systems.
  • Experience in a computational discipline such as computational physics, computational chemistry, engineering, or computer science.
  • 5+ years of experience using Linux.
  • 5+ years of experience with computer simulations, broadly defined.
  • 5+ years developing software and analysis tools adhering to software engineering best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with large data sets in a variety of formats.
