Job description

The IT Operations / Systems Engineer is a key contributor to the performance, reliability, and evolution of the firm’s technology platform, supporting a mission-critical, high-availability environment across a modern hybrid infrastructure (Azure and on-premises).

This is a hands-on, high-impact role requires solving complex technical challenges and operating at the center of a fast-paced business. Direct role in keeping systems running at peak performance, responding to real-time issues, and continuously improving the stability, scalability, and security of the environment.

Working across systems, cloud, networking, and automation, you’ll partner closely with engineering teams and vendors to build smarter, more resilient infrastructure.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership, drive meaningful improvements, and gain exposure to enterprise technologies in an environment where technology performance is critical to business success.

Hands-on Engineer with expertise across IT operations systems, networks, cloud platforms, and automation, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

The engineer will work closely with internal teams and external vendors to deliver reliable infrastructure services and drive operational excellence.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the day-to-day operation, monitoring, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise applications.
  • Proactively monitor system performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise monitoring tools; identify and resolve issues before they impact business operations.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot infrastructure incidents, including server, network, storage, and application issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support, responding to critical incidents, outages, and operational escalations as required.
  • Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of infrastructure technologies across cloud (Azure/AWS) and on-prem environments.
  • Automate operational tasks and workflows using scripting and infrastructure-as-code tools to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support system patching, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new system implementations, application deployments, and infrastructure changes.
  • Maintain and improve documentation for systems, processes, configurations, and incident response procedures.
  • Work with third-party vendors and service providers to support infrastructure services and resolve issues.
  • Assist in backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes, including testing and validation.
  • Analyze system logs, metrics, and alerts to identify root causes and recommend long-term improvements.
  • Contribute to the development and enforcement of operational standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Support identity and access management, including user provisioning, authentication systems, and security controls.

Requirements

The IT Operations / Systems Engineer is a detail-oriented and analytical problem solver with strong technical aptitude and the ability to work effectively under pressure.

The role requires strong communication skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

  • Hands-on experience supporting IT infrastructure in a complex, high-availability environment.
  • Support and maintain identity and access management systems, including Active Directory, Azure AD, MFA, SSO, and privileged access controls.
  • Operating systems (Windows Server, Linux) and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP (Azure preferred).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash, Terraform, or similar).
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Datadog, Grafana, ELK, LogicMonitor).
  • Experience with zero trust networking concepts and platforms, including Zscaler (ZIA/ZPA), secure access service edge (SASE), and modern network security architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise storage platforms, including Dell APEX / Dell EMC storage solutions, along with a solid understanding of backup technologies, replication, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Experience with ITSM tools and processes (incident, problem, and change management; ITIL familiarity preferred).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose issues across multiple layers of the technology stack.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • ability to work independently and take ownership of operational responsibilities.
  • Willingness to participate in after-hours work and on-call rotations, including responding to urgent production issues.
