Job description

The Director of IT Infrastructure and Security is responsible for leading and managing Neurogene’s global IT infrastructure, operations, and systems security. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Head of IT, this role will oversee the development, implementation, security, and maintenance of the company’s information systems, networks, IT hybrid infrastructure, and digital backbone to support business objectives and ensure operational excellence. As a key member of the IT Leadership Team, the Director will play a critical role in shaping the user experience while ensuring robust and secure IT operations.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Architect, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud and on-premises IT infrastructure to support Neurogene’s growth. Help optimize our security profile and lead management of enterprise security platforms such as SSO/MFA, endpoint protection, email filtering, vulnerability and patch management.

  • Infrastructure Management: Manage our M365/Azure/SharePoint environments including ongoing administration. Develop infrastructure related Policies, SOPs, Work Instructions, and Knowledge Base Articles. Responsible for backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with IT Cybersecurity and Data Governance teams to implement data protection and disaster recovery solutions, minimizing operational risks.

  • Technology & Security: Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance the scalability, performance, and efficiency of IT systems. Manage and evolve our IDM environment and Access Controls.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations (SOX/GxP), and data privacy requirements (GDPR, HIPAA, PII, PHI), and appropriate controls are implemented.

  • Operational Excellence: Continuously improve IT infrastructure processes to support optimal business outcomes and ensure high performance and availability of systems.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Team motivation (leadership skill)?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Education * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Experience * 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations management, with at least 4 years in a management role within a regulated Life Science/Biotech environment

Licenses or Certifications

  • CISSP, Microsoft/Azure, VMWare/Nutanix certifications required

  • ITIL and Cisco certifications are a plus

Knowledge & Skills

  • Life Science and Biotech industry knowledge

  • US FDA and European GDPR patient data regulations

  • Experience with enterprise-level IT systems and applications

  • Extensive experience with identity management, access controls, content collaboration

  • ITIL/ITSM processes domain expert with strong experience implementing and managing IT incident/service request management, IT configuration management, ITAM/CMDB, Cybersecurity threat assessment and incident coordination.

  • Continuous strong focus on meeting or exceeding expectations in executing deliverables, performance and results

  • Self-starter with high degree of energy, independence, initiative, and self-motivation, as illustrated by the ability to instill a sense of pace and urgency into the team.

  • Flexibility with changing priorities, ability to work well under pressure, and taking on unfamiliar tasks is required

  • Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines successfully

  • Long term technical roadmap planning for infrastructure and IT security

  • Passionate, collaborative, creative, willing to take prudent risks, and motivated by the creation of a company focused on transformative treatments for patients and their families.

About the company

The mission of Neurogene is to treat devastating neurological diseases to improve the lives of patients and families impacted by these rare diseases. Neurogene is developing novel approaches and treatments to address the limitations of conventional gene therapy in central nervous system disorders. This includes selecting a delivery approach to maximize distribution to target tissues and designing products to maximize potency and purity for an optimized efficacy and safety profile. CGMP production of NGN-401 was conducted in this facility and will support pivotal clinical development activities.
