Job description

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to join the Care Platform Operations team at Ro. In this role, you’ll design, build, and maintain the provider- and care-team-facing web interfaces that power how Ro delivers care - including the surfaces for patient-provider messaging, appointment scheduling, task routing and queues, and care-operations tooling increasingly driven by AI and intelligent automation.

You’ll help shape the technical roadmap and own initiatives from ideation through design, implementation, and maintenance. You’ll partner closely with product, design, data, clinical, and care operations teams to build high-quality, compliant experiences that reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and help Ro scale care delivery for millions of patients.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive the architecture, design, and implementation of new features across the web interfaces that power Ro’s clinical and operational workflows
  • Build realtime, visually engaging, intuitive interfaces that help patients seamlessly achieve their health goals and enable care teams to deliver care efficiently and safely
  • Operate as an owner within your team’s domain, proactively assessing and improving application performance, accessibility, and reliability
  • Drive engineering excellence through best practices in testing, monitoring, observability, and performance optimization
  • Actively contribute to the team’s architectural vision and technical roadmap
  • Collaborate on code reviews and technical design documents to ensure consistent application of best practices across the frontend platform
  • Work closely with product, design, data, and other stakeholders to build the best possible experiences for our providers, pharmacists, care coordinators, and patient advocates
  • Participate in on-call rotations to ensure the reliability of production systems

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience building accessible, visually engaging web applications with an eye for intuitive user-facing experiences
  • Proficiency with React and TypeScript, plus a strong grasp of UI architecture, and client-side performance
  • Comfort working at scale in a Turborepo monorepo with a shared design system - styled-components, TanStack Query, React Aria, and Playwright/Storybook-driven testing (strong fundamentals matter more than prior experience with our exact stack)
  • Hands-on experience with metrics instrumentation and data-driven performance tuning, using qualitative user feedback and quantitative analytics to identify opportunities
  • A strong sense of ownership for your work, from initial technical design and implementation through to monitoring for issues and opportunities after shipping
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with engineers, product managers, and product designers to create the best possible products
  • Genuine care for the user experience, and the ability to quickly assess the right solution to achieve product and design goals in an elegant manner

Bonus Skills

  • Experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries
  • Experience building data-dense internal tools for a variety of specialized roles

Benefits & conditions

  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance + OneMedical membership
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible PTO
  • Wellbeing + Learning & Growth reimbursements
  • Paid parental leave + Fertility benefits
  • Pet insurance
  • Student loan refinancing
  • Virtual resources for mindfulness, counseling, and fitness

The target base salary for this position ranges from $182,300 to $220,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary. Ro is consistently recognized as a top workplace in Health Care, in New York, and for Women and Parents-earning more than 20 honors from Fortune, Great Place to Work, and PEOPLE since 2021. In 2025 alone, we ranked top 5 among medium workplaces in Health Care and New York, and top 50 nationwide.

About the company

At Ro, we believe that when people achieve their health goals, they can achieve their life goals. The highest-leverage way to move society forward is to give people their health, and the current healthcare system isn’t built to do that. It was built to bill, not to serve patients.

We’re building a new system. One where the patient is in control. One designed from scratch for the digital age.

At Ro, technology isn’t just a function… It’s core to how we deliver care. We’ve built a vertically integrated healthcare platform that connects telehealth, diagnostics, pharmacy, and logistics into a seamless, end-to-end experience for millions of patients.

…and we’re just getting started.

As part of Tech @ Ro, you’ll work on systems that operate at scale, with an opportunity to:

  • Solve complex, high-concurrency problems across a full-stack platform
  • Build and ship quickly with tight feedback loops and real-world impact
  • Own systems end-to-end, from architecture to production performance
  • Work alongside experienced operators, technical leaders, and clinicians
  • Help define how modern healthcare should be delivered

We’re a performance-driven team with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. We move fast, learn quickly, and hold a high bar for what we build, and do so with a big heart - because patients depend on it.

If you’re motivated by impact, scale, and the chance to help lead the patient revolution, come build with us.
