Job description
Role Description: This is a full-time, on-site Design Engineer role based in Wilmington, DE. The Design Engineer will be responsible for developing and refining engineering designs, drawings, and specifications for civil site and related projects, collaborating closely with project managers and senior engineers. Day-to-day activities include preparing plans using CAD tools, performing engineering including but not limited to the following: hydrologic and hydraulic analyses models; grading, drainage and erosion sediment control design; production of construction project plans as well as associated remediation reports; create SAS Exhibits, Pre and Post Development Stormwater Management Reports; meet with governing jurisdictions to discuss projects; provide customer service by serving as key divisional and team resource; evaluate storm drainage system conditions and performance; develop design resolutions to various storm drainage system deficiencies; determine construction materials estimates; coordinate utility conflicts; utilize efficient time management skills for projects.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Fundamentals of Engineering license?, Do you have a valid Engineer in Training certification?, Do you have experience in Time management?, · Strong foundation in core engineering disciplines, including Civil site design, transportation and Stormwater Management, with the ability to apply engineering principles to site and infrastructure projects.
· Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for preparing plans, profiles, details, and revisions in support of civil engineering and related design tasks.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully perform storm water modeling and design tasks including understanding and knowledge of using hydrology and hydraulic software such as, HydroCAD, HEC-1, HEC-RAS, HY8, Arc-GIS, Terrain Navigator, StormCAD, PondPack, FlowMaster, SewerCAD, CulvertMaster as well as demonstrate progressive experience using AutoCAD, and other engineering software applications.
· A working knowledge of New Castle County Land Development Standards, particularly the Unified Development Code (UDC), DelDOT Standards and Specifications, Green Technology Best Management Practices (GTBMP), the Delaware Urban Runoff Management Model (DURMM) and DNREC Standards is a plus.
· EIT/FE certification or eligibility and intent to obtain licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the future preferred but technicians/designers are also welcome to apply.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
· Effective written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and interact professionally with clients and regulatory agencies.
· Willingness to work on-site with flexible schedule options
