Job description

Redwire Space Components, LLC has a current opportunity for a Hardware Development Engineer located at our facility in Marlborough, MA. In this role you will be collaborating with other members of the engineering team and product management to develop space-qualified hardware PCBs and FPGA designs for our flight cameras, navigational sensor products, and other expanded product lines. The development includes circuit design, analysis, test, qualification, design documents, and supporting the transition of products from R&D to manufacturing. Responsibilities

  • Learn applicable product technology, architecture, and design requirements for space-based sensor systems
  • Collaborate with the larger product team to effectively produce optimal hardware designs for the space environment
  • Analyze and document design specifications, design verification plans and reports, parts stress analysis, worst-case analysis including radiation effects, and failure modes and effects analysis
  • Work with the software team to bring up and debug PCB, FPGA, and system-level designs. Maintain hardware throughout the development cycle
  • Design and support build of any special test equipment needed including interface adapters, cables, and associated commercial test support equipment
  • Conduct design verification stress testing to validate analysis and design margins. Evaluate any noncompliance’s and develop solutions to bring the product into compliance
  • Develop novel system design approaches to mitigate radiation hazards to improved sensor availability or extend mission life
  • Support product release cycles, including manufacturing and test

Requirements

Do you have experience in Version control systems?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with two or more years of relevant design experience. MSEE is a plus

  • Experience designing embedded electronics, including analog circuitry (amplifiers, filters, ADC/DAC interfaces, power sequencing) and digital hardware (microcontrollers, memory, mixed-signal components)
  • Experience with common digital communication interfaces such as UART, SPI/QSPI, I2C, Ethernet, USB, or MIPI
  • Hands-on experience with building test circuits, using power supplies, oscilloscopes, and other lab test equipment in a manual or automated test environment
  • Experience using schematic and PCB design tools (Altium is preferred)
  • Exposure to the hardware development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, and verification
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Some limited travel may be required

Desired Skills

  • Familiar with analysis such as reliability, worst-case, parts stress/derating, or thermal analysis.
  • Experience with isolated and non-isolated DC/DC power supplies, voltage/current monitoring techniques, and protection circuitry
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills that enable effective collaboration, status reporting, and documenting analysis and results
  • Knowledge of professional engineering tools including version control (Git), SPICE, synthesis/simulation tools, or signal integrity analysis
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, for documentation, analysis, and presentation of engineering work
  • Interest in learning about radiation effects in space-based electronics (TID, SEE, TNID) and designing for the space environment
  • Exposure to EMC considerations (MIL-STD-461 RE/CE/RS/CS) or ESD-robust design
  • Driven to advance your career by learning, acting on feedback, and putting in the effort to get the job done
