Job description
The FinOps Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, forecasting, and optimizing AWS cloud spend, developing cost visibility tools, and collaborating with team members and customers to drive cost-effective cloud use., + Monitor and analyze AWS usage and spend using AWS Cost Explorer, CloudHealth, CloudCheckr, or similar tools

Build and maintain dashboards to provide visibility into cloud financial metrics for stakeholders

Collaborate with engineering and product teams to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising performance or reliability

Implement tagging strategies and enforce policies to ensure accurate cost allocation and reporting

Provide detailed forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis for cloud expenditures

Contribute to cloud governance policies and educate teams on FinOps best practices

Recommend Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and other AWS pricing strategies to optimize costs

Participate in cloud cost audits and help design cost-efficient architectures
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree (Masters Preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
-
5+ years of experience in cloud cost optimization, FinOps, or cloud engineering with a focus on AWS
-
Proven experience with machine learning and statistical modeling

Demonstrated track record of successful analytical projects
Required Skills and Competencies:
-
Strong understanding of AWS pricing models, services, and cost management tools
-
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and automation
-
Proficiency in creating reports and dashboards using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or AWS-native tools
-
Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
-
Familiarity with FinOps principles and a strong interest in cloud financial management

Preferred Qualifications

FinOps Certified Practitioner or similar certification
-
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, containers, and serverless architectures

Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments

Familiarity with multi-cloud cost management (Azure, GCP)
