Technical Systems & Fabrication Support Specialist

An effective Technical Systems & Fabrication Support Specialist is responsible for maintaining and supporting steel fabrication equipment, providing in-house IT support, and developing skills in estimating and detailing. This role combines hands-on mechanical troubleshooting, technical systems support, and a structured development path into estimating and/or structural steel detailing., Bountiful Steel is hiring a full-time Takeoff Specialist with a strong mechanical and technical aptitude. This role begins with hands-on training in shop systems and IT support, then transitions quickly into a primary role focused on material takeoffs and estimating.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working with computers, and wants to build a long-term career in estimating or structural steel detailing.

What You’ll Do

First 90 Days:

Learn fabrication equipment (Voortman, Python, saws, plasma tables)

Assist with basic machine troubleshooting and maintenance

Provide in-house IT support (computers, printers, network issues)

Begin training in:

Blueprint reading - Tekla / Estimodeling - Material takeoffs

After 90 Days:

Perform material takeoffs independently - Support estimating and bid preparation - Maintain accurate quantity and material data

Continue support of shop equipment and IT systems as needed
