Job description

The Operations Support Manager is responsible for providing hands-on leadership and oversight to critical operational support functions, ensuring seamless execution of logistics, inventory, transportation compliance, and facility operations. This role supports capital expenditure (CapEx) projects and day-to-day business activities by managing resources, teams (including drivers and vendors), processes, and compliance to drive efficiency, cost control, accuracy, and safety. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong organizational skills, experience in field/logistics operations, and a focus on process improvement in a dynamic, hands-on environment.

The position will administer Hydro Resources policies and procedures to establish and promote safe and healthy working conditions while ensuring compliance with all OSHA and DOT regulations and Hydro Resources Safety Program requirements., * CapEx Project Support

  • Coordinate and track materials, equipment, and resource needs for capital expenditure initiatives.
  • Ensure timely procurement, allocation, and movement to support project timelines and budgets.

  • Logistics and Fleet Management
  • Lead and supervise truck drivers and transportation activities, including scheduling, performance monitoring, route coordination, and resolution of delivery and logistics issues to maintain reliable and efficient operations.

  • Inventory Control
  • Oversee end-to-end inventory management, including purchasing decisions, receiving and inspection of goods, accurate tracking in systems, cycle counting, discrepancy resolution, inventory reporting, and forecasting to minimize stockouts, overstock, and waste.

  • Intercompany Transfers
  • Manage the processing and execution of intercompany orders and material transfers between sites and locations.
  • Ensure proper documentation, verification, coordination, and timely completion with minimal errors or delays.

  • Shipping and Receiving Operations
  • Direct all shipping and receiving functions, including ordering and tracking hot shot services, managing inbound and outbound shipments, overseeing designated facilities (e.g., Building A receiving), verifying documentation, and addressing any transit or delivery discrepancies.

  • Vehicle Registrations and Regulatory Compliance
  • Administer fleet compliance programs, including vehicle registrations, plates, International Registration Plan (IRP), International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) filings, Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting, and maintenance of up-to-date records to ensure full regulatory compliance and avoid penalties.

  • Facility and Yard Operations
  • Supervise yard and facility support activities, including vendor coordination (scheduling, check-in/check-out tracking), site organization, general yard maintenance, safety oversight, and serving as the primary liaison for external vendors and service providers.

  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Monitor operational costs (freight, inventory, vendor services) and identify opportunities for efficiency gains, process improvements, and cost savings.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assigned functions to enhance consistency and performance.
  • Generate regular reports, dashboards, and metrics on inventory levels, shipment status, compliance, and operational KPIs; present insights to leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (e.g., procurement, project management, finance, and safety) and external partners (suppliers, carriers, and regulatory agencies) to resolve issues and align goals.
  • Promote and enforce safety standards, company policies, and industry best practices across all operations.
  • Lead or support special projects related to operational enhancements, system implementations, or process optimizations.
  • Manage company credit cards in a responsible and ethical manner and in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned., * Must be available for call-ins to assist in diagnosing operational, logistics, and documentation issues.
  • Occasional weekend work for special projects may be necessary.
  • This position reports to the Operations Manager or General Manager/VP, depending on location.
  • Plays a key role in supporting company growth through reliable, compliant, and efficient operations.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have experience in Vendor relationship management?, * Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel for tracking and reporting), inventory management software, and tracking/logistics tools.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders, including drivers, vendors, and management.
  • Ability to handle urgent situations, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physically capable of climbing stairs.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time and possess the manual dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard.
  • Must be proficient in Excel.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Comfortable working in industrial and yard environments, including occasional outdoor and hands-on tasks.
  • Occasional travel by personal vehicle, company vehicle, and/or airplane is required.
  • Experience supporting CapEx projects or capital-intensive operations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with hot shot trucking, intercompany logistics, and regulatory filings is preferred.
  • Previous exposure to process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) or cost-control initiatives., * Four or more years of progressive experience in operations, logistics, supply chain, fleet management, or a related field, ideally in construction, manufacturing, energy, field services, or heavy materials industries.
  • Proven supervisory or leadership experience managing teams (e.g., drivers and yard staff) and coordinating vendors and external partners.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory/ERP systems, transportation compliance (DOT, IFTA, and IRP), shipping and receiving best practices, and fleet operations.
  • Valid driver’s license.
